Feng replied, "I have reached the realm of heaven and earth." Feng Youlan's mood in his later years was peaceful and upright. He said that he felt that he was close to the state of "the sea and the sky are wide and I fly by myself". "In a whole new world.

Feng Youlan once wrote a couplet "Explaining the old state to supplement the new life, extremely brilliant and moderate", and hung on the east wall of the study. People call it "Dongming", which is juxtaposed with Zhang Zai's "Ximing".Feng Youlan tried to quote the last two lines of "Xi Ming": "Survival, I will do well; death, I will rather." To explain his attitude towards life and death, despite the wind and rain, he lived very happily and calmly.He wrote the tomb couplet by himself during his lifetime, "Three Histories explain the present and the past, and the Six Books Ji Zhenyuan", which is a summary of his life.This couplet is now engraved on the back of Feng Youlan's tombstone in oracle bone inscriptions.
