Looking West to Zhang Ailing 西岭雪 7710Words 2018-03-16
The most commendable thing about Hu Lancheng's relationship with the two generations of the Zhu family is his friendship with Zhu Tianwen, who is both a teacher and a friend. Zhu Tianwen, born in Taipei in 1956, made her mark in the literary world at the age of 15 or 16. She has the tendency of "green out of blue and better than blue". Predecessor" and the script collection "City of Sadness" have been published in the Mainland. However, it is the films written by her and directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien that really make mainland readers familiar with her, all of which have become classics of the times.

I went to see Hu Lancheng because of Eileen Chang, and I went to see Zhu Tianwen because of Hu Lancheng, but I didn’t go to see Hou Xiaoxian because of Zhu Tianwen—I saw Hou Xiaoxian before Hu Lancheng, since the beginning of the movie—so far away, quiet, gorgeous, and delicate A film in Wu language, filmed by Hou Hsiao-hsien like a dream, makes people completely forget themselves in those two hours, as if they were in the gorgeous and beautiful Changsantangzi at the beginning of the century. From then on, I became obsessed with Hou Xiaoxian, buying discs whenever I saw them, but I didn't notice that the two lines of Hou Xiaoxian and Zhu Tianwen intersected here.Zhu Tianwen is also the screenwriter - no wonder!

Some people say that Hou Hsiao-hsien is the director who can stick to his personal style the most. But I think that Hou Xiaoxian's persistence is largely due to Zhu Tianwen's persistence.Rather than saying that Zhu Tianwen is Hou Xiaoxian's queen screenwriter, it is better to say that Hou Xiaoxian is Zhu Tianwen's queen director. Let’s look at the chronology of their cooperation: In 1983, Zhu Tianwen collaborated with Hou Hsiao-hsien for the first time in his award-winning novel "The Story of Xiao Bi" and adapted it into a screenplay, which won the Best Adapted Screenplay Award at the 20th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards; In the same year, "The Man from the Wind Cabinet" won the Best Work Award at the Three Continents Film Festival in Nantes, France; "Winter's Summer Vacation" in 1984 won the Best Director Award at the 30th Asia-Pacific Film Festival, and the Special Recommendation Award at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, France Best Work Award at the Nantes Three Continents Film Festival; "My Childhood Past" won the Best Original Screenplay Award at the 22nd Taiwan Golden Horse Awards in 1985, the Special Jury Award at the 6th Hawaii International Film Festival, and the best non-European film at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands Work Award; "Love in the Wind and Dust" won the Best Photography, Best Music Award at the Three Continents Film Festival in Nantes, France, and the Best Director Award at the Telia International Film Festival in Portugal in 1987; "Daughter of the Nile" won the Fifth International Youth Film Festival in Turin, Italy in 1987 Film Critics Special Award; "A City of Sadness" won the Golden Lion Award at the 46th Venice International Film Festival in Italy in 1989; "Life in a Dream" won the Jury Award at the Xana International Film Festival in 1993 and the Best Music Effect Award at the Ghent International Film Festival in Belgium etc.; "Good Man, Good Woman" won the Best Screenplay Award at the 32nd Taiwan Golden Horse Awards in 1995...

The path from writer to screenwriter was also taken by Zhang Ailing, and Zhu Tianwen undoubtedly went further and more successfully than Zhang Ailing on the road of screenwriting. On the morning of November 27, 1982, Zhu Tianwen handed in the script to Hou Hsiao-hsien for the first time at the intersection of Keelung Road and Xinhai Road in Taiwan.Zhu Tianwen wrote: "The weather turned cold that day. Mr. Hou wore a long-sleeved shirt with a canvas green space vest. During working hours, the traffic was like running water. He walked back to the car through the traffic lights. The space vest was blown by the wind and turned into a sail. Crossing the traffic flow is really full of talent!"

This description is so familiar, it is very similar to Zhang Ailing's last meeting with Hu Shi.Behold the influence that seeps into the marrow. The strange thing is that Zhu Tianwen has never tried to adapt Eileen Chang's novel into a movie, which is considered marginal. Although it is related to Eileen Chang, it is Han Ziyun's story after all.Her father Zhu Xining once commented on Zhang Ailing's several films written by Hong Kong MP & GI: "The producers, directors, and actors are all Hong Kong films that are so vulgar that people can't bear them. Going back to the silent film era, it is naive, inferior, and purely commercialized. Really, I have no confidence, and I am afraid of kicking Eileen Chang's screenwriter into a bad picture. I never dare to watch it. A crime of mediocrity killing genius."

——Perhaps, it was because of the fear caused by this excessive respect and love that Zhu Tianwen banned writing from Zhang Ailing, for fear of committing "the crime of mediocrity killing geniuses"? Zhu Tianwen claimed to have read Zhang Ailing since he was twelve or thirteen years old. He not only admired her writing, but also fell in love with her. I thought it was a maverick and not subject to norms." "The embarrassment and awkwardness of the long adolescence, and the fact that I don't know how good I am, seems to have the image of Zhang Ailing as a backing, so blindly blaming it is justified and very righteous."

In 1975, she visited Huagang with her father. It was the first time she met Hu Lancheng, and it was also an indirect intimate contact with Zhang Ailing. "If you can't see Zhang Ailing, you can see Hu Lancheng."When I really saw it, I was a little confused, and it was blank and unfeeling. After a long time, when I saw that book again, I just copied it and read it. I felt that the stone was broken, the clouds were hanging down from the sea, and it was very sad. There were many emotions that I had to express. So I took up a pen and wrote a long letter to Hu Lancheng, and after I sent it, I didn't take it seriously, because I didn't expect him to be still in Taiwan, let alone receive it, and just delivered a piece of my heart like a book in a bottle. .

Unexpectedly, Hu Lancheng replied quickly, and wanted to use Tianwen's letter as the preface of the Taiwan edition that was about to be printed.Zhu Xining was shocked when he heard this, and hurriedly edited the book to stop it, but Hu Lancheng had no choice but to give up, and said: "If you want to make a preface, of course I will ask you first, please don't worry." This was the beginning of Zhu Tianwen's literary communication with Hu Lancheng.Since then, the sisters of the Zhu family went to Yangmingshan to visit Hu Lancheng many times and benefited a lot.Hu Lancheng also wrote a long letter and Zhu Xining, highly admiring the works of the Zhu sisters: "You two writing styles are influenced by Zhang Ailing... I am also the same. Without Zhang Ailing's inspiration, there will be no writing style. It can be seen that Eileen Chang is indeed a great person who developed the style of writing in modern China. It is a good thing that both of you and I are influenced by her, because we are influenced and not restrained, we can be different from her, and we are naturally different... "In this way, four manuscripts were written.

When Tianwen was in the second year of university, he suddenly wanted to drop out of school. Hu Lancheng listened, and sat down for a long time, convincing her to continue reading, and said: "The heroic beauty doesn't want to be a heroic beauty, he even wants to cater to her. Worldly—it just doesn't fit in." Zhu Tianwen recalled: "Heroes and beauties have always had negative meanings. It is so natural and unnatural in Mr. Hu's mouth. It is really exciting to hear." Later she wrote "A Cup of Sword Qi", in which there is "so heroes The beauty's selfish intentions are his own, and at the same time belong to the world." This sentence is obviously caused by Hu Lancheng's "stimulation".

In 1976, sisters Zhu Tianwen and Zhu Tianxin each had a novel selected into the "Selected Novels of the Most Outstanding Young Writers of Modern Times". According to regulations, each of them needed to find a critic to review, and they invited Hu Lancheng. However, the manuscript was written, but it could not be used—it was rejected! It can be seen that the Taiwanese literary world blocked Hu Lancheng heavily at that time. However, Hu Lan's nature is big and flexible, and he is the one who can enjoy suffering the most.He once talked about the importance of practice to Tianwen sisters, thinking that if you are strong without practice, you will only become rough in the end, and will be broken like a dead branch of an old tree. Those who know the current affairs are heroes."At that time, he was immersed in writing "Bi Yan Lu Xin Yu" (that is), he took the opportunity to cultivate his mind and cultivate his character - this is a book discussing allusions of Zen Buddhism, and it is impossible not to calm the mind.He wrote in the preface of the book: "I read Zen books, and I intuitively know that Zen was not created by Bodhidharma. Zen is a Chinese thought, not Indian." Seeing the wind, the sun is shining." There is indeed an exclusive view.

Zhu Tianwen wrote in the preface: "Teacher Hu explained this 'Cuiyan eyebrow' case when he left the Cultural Institute and moved next door to our house to write books. He lectured every Saturday night. He moved here in May 1976 and left in November. After returning to Taiwan, it was completed, and one hundred public cases were explained one by one, and he finished writing this book quietly amidst the slander." During that time, Hu Lancheng got up early every morning, first wrote a section of Bi Yan Lu Xinyu, practiced Tai Chi, and then took a cold shower, and then came to Zhu's house to read the newspaper, and only glanced at the news at home and abroad , the serialization of martial arts novels is a must-read every day. Sisters Tianwen often stay lazy until noon and are willing to get up. Seeing Teacher Hu coming, Tianxin shouted "Master Hu", and Hu Lancheng readily agreed; teacher". She and Hu Lancheng went to Xinglongju to eat soy milk and walked along the mountain. Hu Lancheng stepped on the stream all the way to play, more childlike than her, how could he look like a "father"?Seeing pink flowers blooming by the stream, Hu Lancheng pointed and said, "Pink is the color of astronomy." She felt very happy. Everyone talked about the Book of Songs, and when they read "Xizhou Song", the line "hanging hands are as bright as jade", Hu Lancheng said: "This is written by Miss Tianwen." It also made her happy, and felt that it was always sweet in her heart. She sometimes helped Hu Lancheng clean the floor, and was praised for her ability, which was different from ordinary people. He recited a poem by Liu Yuxi to describe her: "Silver chains and gold hairpins come to carry water." He also praised: "Labor is also so expensive." ——He really understands women, and knows how to appreciate women even more, especially after they are at such an age, they just appreciate them, which makes her feel more and more rare.Hu Lancheng is a teacher, an elder, and a bosom friend to her, but she has never been an old man. "At that time, I took Mr. Hu and Mr. Xiaoshan to Tongluo Waigong's house. The flat express train was not on the right number, so I bought it now. I took the first class and didn't find it was the sea line. When the mountain line entered the station, the whole family hurriedly got off the bus and ran across. Overpass to the opposite platform. Teacher Hu lifted up his robe and ran after him, as if he was escaping the air raid siren in Hanyang. We forced a seat for Teacher Hu to sit on the full train. My parents apologized and said it was like fleeing a disaster. Teacher Hu also laughed and said that it was like fleeing from disaster. The next day we went to the old tenant farmer’s house in the mountainous area to play. At dusk, the heat receded and we went to walk the mountain. The last section of the mountain was steep and steep. After walking home, Teacher Hu sighed that I was very tired just now, and my soul was so exhausted. Hold on tightly, step by step firmly, or you will fall into the pond. We always forget that Mr. Hu is seventy years old, because he is always happy and happy with the situation. My mother sincerely praised Mr. Hu for being so good, he loves to eat anything When there were no meat dishes, each person fried a poached egg. My father most remembered that Mr. Hu finished eating the egg before eating, like a child eating the good ones first. On the contrary, my father always kept the good ones for later, and the more he ate, the more delicious he was hope." "Throughout the summer, the epiphyllum flowers in Mr. Hu's yard were like fireworks, blooming one wave after another. It was always open at night, and a light bulb was pulled out to illuminate, and seven or eight bloomed at about the same time. After class, people came and went. Look, it’s like Chinese New Year. The library lady took a pen and paper to sketch, Yao Mengjia and his wife are a young couple in the night light, and Ruojie’s baby’s eyes are black. I will never remember how the flowers were harvested in the second half, the next day Only the benches and chairs are in a mess, and the withered epiphyllum hangs its head down like a hangover. Many years later, every summer night, I suddenly smell the drifting fragrance. It turns out that the wall-climbing pot outside someone’s house is in full bloom. People say it’s a flash in the pan, but it’s as long as eternal life.” (Zhu Tianwen’s “Book of the Golden Oath”) ——These descriptions are like poetry and picturesque, like eternal life. And Zhu Tianwen sighed to himself: "Three hundred poems, there is no evil in thinking, but I think there is evil in thinking." These words are also remarkable, but they cannot be said.It breaks as soon as you say it. She also said: ""Three Three Collections" is the resurrection of "Bitter Bamboo"." "Mr. Hu can be said to have incited our youth. The scene, to quote the title of Akira Kurosawa's movie - I have no youth Regret. Like countless youths who have been incited throughout history, they are eager to find a title to contribute. We started to organize publications, thinking that enlightenment is the most important thing. This idea, in a word, is of course Teacher Hu’s study of ritual and music .” And Wang Huiling, who is also the founder of "Three Three", wrote a memoir "People at the time have a flower for this" also said: "I met Mr. Hu Lancheng once. At that time, I graduated from high school, and I went to Zhu Tianxin's house with my friends, and took me to the neighbor's house next door. I saw a white-haired old man coming down the stairs, wearing a robe, Smiling and nodding, he was amiable. Zhu Tianxin said that this was Mr. Hu. We were all young at that time, and Sui Tianwen and Tianxin called Mr. Hu as Mr. Hu, and our seniority was determined. ... During the years when I was running 'San San', I wrote three books. Tianxin helped me get the first book to Japan and presented it to Hu Ye. high? The answer was 165, Mr. Hu seemed to be thinking about it distressedly, then he smiled and said to himself: It doesn't matter, Li Bai is not high.So I asked Tianxin to bring back a set of Japanese version of Shangwo; another piece of rubbing calligraphy "Jiangshan Rumeng".In that book, Mr. Hu has collated every page by himself. The calligraphy has been hung in my living room for decades. I like Mr. Hu's handwriting, which is graceful and unrestrained, and grows freely. ... I like Mr. Hu, it is his articles that opened my understanding; it is his magnanimity that widens my disposition. Many people like Master Hu because of Eileen Chang, but I am not. I first got to know Master Hu before I could understand Eileen Chang. At that time we organized "San San", and what we saw, said, thought, and wrote was Hu Lancheng and Zhang Ailing, and people at the time ridiculed it as Zhang Qiang's nonsense; isn't it? " "San San" includes the "San San Collection" founded by Zhu Tianwen in his third year of university and the "San San Bookstore" established two years later in April 1977. At that time, Hu Lancheng had completed and returned to Japan, but he still kept in touch with the Zhu family. When he heard that "San San" was founded, he wrote back: "The name San San is excellent, the pronunciation is clear and prosperous, and the meaning seems to be absent. Rehabilitation and the Three People's Principles are also acceptable, and it is also possible to say that one life is two, two is three, and three is all things. Wang Xizhi's Lanting repair wedge, and Japan's Girl's Day are both on March 3rd, and it is especially gratifying to think about it." "San San Ji Kan" published an article "Reading Zhang Ailing's "Meeting Joy"" by Hu Lancheng in April 1979. The article said: "The writing of "Meeting Joy" is excellent, but the author and the characters in the book do not know each other well. Not deep enough. Zhang Ailing’s future novels seem to be good, but there seems to be a lack of connection somewhere. She herself said that the writing was broken. There are deficiencies everywhere. Such a brilliant and talented person, she has gone to the motherland for a long time now.” ——This is the first time to criticize Eileen Chang’s works. Zhu Tianwen also said: "Teacher Hu talked about Zhang Ailing's rebellion more than once. She has a strong temper, but she is also very soft and humble." "The only thing Teacher Hu said about Zhang Ailing was her individualism and self-defense. , 'Although Zhang Ailing is indifferent, she is chivalrous, and her intellectual light is unmatched by anyone.'” Hu Lancheng never returned to Taiwan, but he never stopped publishing books and writing. His works were still banned in Taiwan at that time, and he could only use a pseudonym to publish articles. The letters he wrote to Zhu Tianwen are densely packed and very thin to reduce the weight of aviation. When it was sent, sister Zhu Tianwen transcribed it word by word and published it book by book. The last thing that has not been finished is "The Sun and the Moon: On Women", starting from Nuwa, and planning to write about Lin Daiyu, Qingwen, and the women of the Republic of China. However, he had just finished writing the wife of King Wen of Zhou. At noon in midsummer on July 25, 1981, he walked to post a letter, came back, took a cold shower, lay down to rest, and died of heart failure.Buried in Tamagawa Park.75 years old. The funeral was held at Kiyoganin, Fussa City. Eight people including Fukuda Takeo, Miyazaki Teru, Miyata Takeyoshi, Yasuda Yojuro, Matsuo Saburo, Hatagake Masahiro, Kuwahara Suikun, and Akagi Sotoku attended as representatives of friends.Hosted by Hideo Onuma. Zhu Tianwen said: "It took almost a year to learn from him face-to-face... But in this year, you will feel that your eyes have been opened and you can see the world from a completely different perspective. Then you also feel that you have been taught by him. Enlightenment, you can see that he is a character, but he is so unknown to the world, there will be a kind of injustice." "When we were here to proofread by ourselves, we felt that his last book was not finished, and his last thought It’s not over yet, if he died like this and nobody knows about it, you’ll feel sorry for him. I made a promise at the time: You just watch it, and one day I will finish writing this "On Women." Later, after all, she wrote the article "I like people lower than flowers", commenting on Daiyu, Qingwen, Baochai, and Youer along the way, which is considered to have fulfilled this wish.In February 1985, Japan held the first Taiwan Film Festival, and "Xiao Bi" was among them. Zhu Tianwen and Hou Xiaoxian went to visit Hu Lancheng's grave with peach branches and rapeseed flowers, because "cauliflower is bright and tender". Yellow and peach blossom red are the colors of the folks in the south of the Yangtze River, and Master Lan came from there." But what I think of is Aileen's pink single cheongsam, she said: "Peach red can smell the fragrance." ——Zhang Ailing wore cheongsam all her life, and Hu Lancheng also wore long gowns all her life. The two of them hit it off in this small place. Hu Lancheng has never forgotten Eileen Chang. In addition to the affectionate praise and remembrance of her in the novel, "Mountains and Rivers" is also full of traces of old people. In particular, Eileen once visited him in Wenzhou and mentioned it repeatedly. "When I was in exile in Wenzhou, Ai Ling traveled thousands of miles from Shanghai to visit me by way of Jinhuahuashui." Surprised and very happy, and felt that it was like this." "I can know that the Chinese people are good now, it's all because of Ai Ling." "For example, Sheng County Opera, Beijing Opera, etc., I also know that there are such good things from Ai Ling .” I read in "Mountains and Rivers" that "China's personnel and affairs all have this kind of joy. Dragons are dinosaurs, and phoenixes are also birds of prey. When they arrive in China, they become dragons, phoenixes, sun and moon flags, and can be embroidered on women's flower shoes." For a while, I couldn't help but think of Aileen's pair of embroidered shoes with phoenixes all over the bottom. Sure enough, Hu Lancheng wrote about the fairy Cailuan, who was ordered by the queen mother to go down to the earth at the order of the Queen Mother. , touched Fanxin, and married Wen Xiao.Because his family was poor, he copied books for a living.Cailuan used to be in charge of writing at the Queen Mother's place, so she "laid down a piece of paper, took the inkstone, stretched out the jade shoots, grinded the ink, rolled up her long sleeves, bit the nib of the pen, bowed her head and wrote, Like that raindrops, a cup of tea is not cold yet, a few thousand words are written, and an article is finished in a blink of an eye, no one in the world has ever seen such a way of writing!" Wen Xiao said in amazement: "Why so fast!He looked at it again and said: Why is it so fine! The two discussed where to sell it and how much they should sell it for. Hu Lancheng wrote: "When I read this when I was in exile in Wenzhou, I couldn't help laughing. It seemed that this was about Ai Ling and me. The Penglai Banquet was good, it was so mundane and clean, and it could be funny." He will never forget her after all.I can't forget it even if I want to. Her words and deeds have already penetrated into his heart, penetrated into his internal organs, and he is breathing her spirit to survive. All his life, he was happy and happy, never knowing what being single-minded is, but he has achieved long-term love. In August 1976, he wrote again at the beginning of his preface: "Hu Shi has made two major contributions to the old Chinese learning: one is the author's textual research, and the other is the textual research on Zen. Hu Shi's textual research and Zhang Ailing's make us understand better; Zhang understands literature more directly than Hu Shi Hu Shi's textual research on Zen is to make us better understand the goodness of Zen. We should not belittle the thoughts of Zen just because the allusions of Zen are somewhat untrue. Eileen Chang's testimony is creation, not autobiography. In fact, it is still based on autobiography, and some facts have been transformed. " He wrote it, and published it in two volumes. Once it was published, he sent a copy to Zhang Ailing respectfully and respectfully. It didn't matter if she replied or not. It didn't matter how indifferent the reply was. She enshrines and wipes it from time to time, so it is spotless. He has been living in Japan for the rest of his life, and he needs to go through the relevant residence procedures every year, which is quite troublesome. With his ability and communication at that time, it should not be difficult to become a Japanese citizen, but he still refused to naturalize, and he was a Chinese until his death—this may also be understood as an alternative commemoration. Although he was the doom of her life, bringing her such suffering and humiliation, but he also respected and loved her all his life, in his own way. Hu Lancheng cared about politics all his life and had a lot of opinions. He didn't say he was unhappy, and he would not change it until his death. In the past, he wrote "Peace is Difficult and War Is Not Easy" and mobilized tens of thousands of people to give speeches. Later, he fell out of power and had no such opportunities, but he still refused to keep his mouth shut. Before leaving the country, he wrote to Liang Shuming, commenting on the current affairs, and please pass it on to Mao Zedong; Taiwan, and brought back Hu Lancheng's ten-thousand-character letter to Deng Xiaoping... He talked and said, regardless of whether others listened or not, he only compared himself to Sima Qian, saying: "Sima Qian wrote Feng Chan, firstly, he wrote about the ancient memory of the origin of the Han nation; secondly, he had an inexplicable ambition for the future of the Han nation; thirdly, It is a word for "Xing" in writing literature, and the great flying of life." He regarded writing political commentary as essay writing, and writing essay as writing theory. He once said: "Xiang Yu is easy to understand, but you must understand Liu Bang unless you are as big as him." He also said: "People still can't write better than him High figures cannot be seen or written.” “Writing articles is the same as conquering the world. For example, King Wen of Zhou and King Wu are conscious, while Liu Bang and Zhu Yuanzhang are unconscious. Only Mr. Sun Yat-sen’s creation of the Republic of China is conscious in later generations. You can win the world without realizing it, and you can write good articles if you don’t realize it, but in the following, you need a teacher to help him realize it, such as Liu Bang asking Shusun Tong and Lu Jia for advice.” He taught his students, saying: Only when the theory is not like a theory can it be a good theory; if the article is not written like an article, then it can be a good article. Some students visited him, but he didn't like it. He commented: "This young man has no poetry, and his knowledge is in vain." "Poetry" is his standard for writing and studying. When he writes articles, he likes to use allusions most, which is similar to the Bixing in the Book of Songs. The rhetoric of Han Fu is complicated, and it is criticized as a pile of words. He believes that scholars do not understand literature... Like most "Zhang fans", I read Hu Lancheng because of Zhang Ailing. Every time I read his articles, I think of the poem he mentioned: "The future will be difficult, and the mouth will be dry." The list is endless. Say, Bi, Xing, how can you not do it? The Book of Songs is both elegant and vulgar. The elegance is reserved and honest, and the vulgar is proficient and fluent. Even if it is popular, the comparison is superficial, and the content is straightforward. Why is it so intertwined like him? For a good article, the most basic condition should be that people can understand it, and if they can't read it, no matter how good it is, there is a limit. Zhu Tianwen said that he loved Zhang Ailing since he was a child, but when he saw Hu Lancheng's writing, he felt that he surpassed Zhang Ailing. I can’t agree——Hu Lancheng has collected a lot of knowledge and has his own system. He has written a lot of books in his life, covering a wide range of subjects. It is possible to surpass Zhang Ailing in learning; Pursuing the gorgeousness of words and sentences, he does not hesitate to take the meaning out of context, and he is compulsively citing classics, so that if an article is not accompanied by ten or eight notes, it is almost impossible to understand, thinking that this is literary talent. Every time Bai Juyi finished a poem, he recited it to the old lady first, and it was not considered completed until the old woman understood. Li Shangyin's "Fifty Strings for No Reason" is known as an incomprehensible classic, but at least the words are clear and easy to read. Zhang Ailing worked hard for several years to translate vernacular Chinese so that more people can understand and appreciate it.This is the most sincere attitude of a writer and book lover towards words. In contrast, Hu Lancheng's literary and human beings are just as carefree.Chen Cun's comment won my heart—he thought that Hu Lancheng's attitude toward women and academics is "more talent for appreciation, and less stamina for obsession." This is the extreme. However, Hu Lancheng continued to create throughout his life. In addition to "Difficult Wars and Not Easy", "Mountains and Rivers", and "Shu Zhen Ji", his published works include "The Turning of the World in China" (1962), "Heart Sutra with Joy" "(1967), "New Book of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" (1968), "Natural Science" (1972), "Science and Philosophy of Chinese Studies" (1974), "Chinese Rites and Music" (1979), (1980), "The World of Heaven" (1980), "Tao Ji Zen Ji" (1982)... The last work is "What Day Is Today", which was published by Zhu Tianwen's "San San Shufang" after his death. Ten years later, the nine volumes of "The Complete Works of Hu Lancheng" were published by Yuanliu Publishing Company. These works involve various fields such as literature, politics, economy, history, rites and music, religion, etc., and the knowledge forms its own system, which must not be dismissed lightly.
