Fayuan Temple is the oldest and largest temple in Beijing, located in the front street of Fayuan Temple in Xuanwumen. It was founded in the 19th year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty, and it was called Minzhong Temple at that time.Later Song Qinzong was captured by Jin soldiers from Bianliang to Yanjing, where he was imprisoned. In the Ming Dynasty, it was renamed Chongfu Temple. It was rebuilt and renamed Fayuan Temple during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. There are five courtyards in the temple. The first entry is the Tianwang Hall, the second entry is the Daxiong Hall, the third entry is the Guanyin Pavilion, the fourth entry is the Pilu Hall, and the fifth entry is the Sutra Library. What Fayuan Temple is most proud of is this scripture building. It contains scriptures written by the people of the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, as well as various engraved editions of the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, as well as Buddhist scriptures written in Xixia, Hui, Dai, Tibetan, and Mongolian. It is one of the Buddhist scriptures buildings with the largest number and the most precious editions. On the left side of the first floor of the Sutra Library, there is a well-kept guest room, which is specially designed to receive eminent monks from various temples in China. Jichan lives here as the abbot of Zhejiang Tiantong Temple and a famous poet monk.Yang Du entered Fayuan Temple, and after a little inquiry, a young novice brought him into this room.Jichan had already brewed the precious Tiantong tea and was waiting for him.

Since Yang Du went east to Japan for the second time in the twenty-ninth year of Guangxu, they have not seen each other for seven full years.During this period, only Master Zhifan acted as a blue bird among them once. This time at the reunion at Fayuan Temple, Yang Du didn't ask about Jichan's whereabouts in the past few years, but he took advantage of the scene in the Temple of Mercy to make fun of him. "Unexpectedly, the great master also has an affair with his children. No fake incense is burned in front of the real Buddha. Today, in front of me, a real junior, explain the root cause of that fake junior sister clearly. Otherwise, I will expose her to the jungle of ten directions Let them know that the eminent monk who has attained the Tao is actually a romantic."

After that, he laughed out loud. Jichan hurriedly stopped: "Xizi, this is Fayuan Temple, not Xiangqi Tower, how can you laugh out loud like this, alarming the elders, they will drive us out." Yang Du smiled and said: "Don't use this as an interruption, and explain it carefully. What's wrong with being a romantic poet monk? Master Manshu is a very famous romantic poet monk. When I was in Japan, I liked to associate with him the most, but those who A serious monk who only knows how to meditate and count rosary beads is extremely boring. Manshu is young, and the mage is old. The old and the young complement each other. If I have a bad day, I also wish you a Buddhist monk. The three of us, one old and one young At one middle age, he stood on three legs and became famous all over the world as the three poetic monks."

The more Yang Du talked, the more complacent he became, Ji Chan also laughed and said, "To tell you the truth, I also like Master Manshu, but it's a pity that I don't have the chance to meet him." "It doesn't matter, I heard from Liang Zhuoru that he is going back to China, let me introduce you to each other." "Well, I have wanted to get to know him for a long time." Jichan said sincerely, "Everyone says I am a poet monk, but in fact, he is the real poet monk today. His poems have a Buddhist charm, and I have been writing them all my life. I don’t think I’m as good as him. It seems that this is not about Kuyin, but about Huigen. I recently read one of his poems in Nanshe Series, and it’s really wonderful.”

"How did you write this poem?" Yang Du asked enthusiastically. Ji Chan said in a drawn-out tone: "Chun Yu Loutou Chi Ba Xiao, when will I return to see the tide in Zhejiang? No one knows the straw shoes and broken bowls. How many bridges have I stepped on with cherry blossoms?" After reciting it, he couldn't help admiring: "Qi Ji and Jiao Ran are not as good, and they can be called the first poet of my Zen school." "Oh, I read this poem when I was in Japan a few years ago." Yang Du said, "Do you know who he wrote this poem for?" Zen shook his head.

"He made it for a Japanese geisha named Baisuke Meishi, who is his lover for many years." Yang Du quickly stopped at this point. "I'm not going to be too far away from you, let's explain to your junior sister at the Temple of Mercy!" "I really can't do anything about you!" Ji Chan said with a wry smile, "Since you ran into this matter, I have to tell you a little bit. In fact, brother, what I lack in my life is the word 'lovely'. Ruo Duo Once you are romantic, you will not suffer from nothingness." Yang Du interjected: "It seems that the Great Master and that female Bodhisattva really had an emotional story."

"Oh, this is all in the past." Jichan put away his smile and said, "In the tenth year of Guangxu, I went to Xuedou Temple for the third time and met with Elder Wuyu. At that time, the elder was giving a lecture, and there were monks and nuns from all directions. Listen to lectures. I also lived in the monastery and listened to the elder’s lectures twice in the morning and evening. One day, a young nun suddenly walked into the meditation room where I lived and said that I had heard people say that I love to write poetry. Read my poems. I was only in my thirties at the time, and my blood was still hot. I was very happy to see someone wanting to read my poems, so I showed her the drafts and explained each poem in detail. Listen to her. This nun loves poetry very much, and she came to read it every two days, so I talked about it again. This way, I became very familiar with it. Her Dharma name is Jingwu, and she lives in Fuzhou Nunnery outside Hangzhou. , I have been here for half a year. I asked her why she became a monk. I found out that she was originally a bannerman, and her father was a small general in Hangzhou Qiying. Later, her father died of illness, and the family had no money to transport the coffin back to the north, so I married her. She was the concubine in Zhejiang. She was also a bannerman. She was a 73-year-old old man when she got married. Two years later, she died. The eldest wife couldn't tolerate her and kicked her out of the house. She couldn't survive. Reluctantly, she entered the Fuzhou Nunnery, shaved her hair and became a nun. Jing Wu’s life experience was very bitter. We all came from a hard life, and we pitied each other. One month later, she suddenly said to me: Brother, let’s return to the vulgar together! After hearing this, I was shocked and said: I have burned two fingers in front of the stupa of Ashoka Temple, and I have made a vow of sea, how can I betray the vulgar? Jing Wu went out without saying another word. I did not see her listening to the lecture the next morning In the afternoon, I found out that she had gone back to Hangzhou when I inquired about it. Two years later, I went to Hangzhou and went to Fuzhou Nunnery to find her. The nun in the nunnery told me that she had gone to the capital. I think she originally He is a banner man, so he must have returned to his hometown. I have never thought about it again. I came to the capital a few days ago and stayed here. I talked with Master Lunpu about the monks in the jungle of the capital. Master Jingfa has exquisite Zen. I thought to myself, is this Jingwu the same Jingwu from more than 20 years ago? With this thought in mind, I went to the Temple of Mercy that day. When we met, it was indeed Jingwu! We were very pleasantly surprised. Jing Wu said, for more than 20 years, she often remembered me. When I rejected her, she felt very miserable, so she could only pay homage to the Buddha and study Buddhist scriptures to get rid of that layer of worldly thoughts. I felt very uncomfortable when I heard it. "

Yang Du interjected: "Since you are uncomfortable with her memory, it's not too late to return to vulgarity together!" "I'm already sixty years old, and Jing Wu is almost fifty, so I'm still so vulgar!" Jichan's eyes darkened, and he said slowly, "If there is a real destiny, let's realize this dream in the next life!" Yang Du smiled and said: "Master, I understand now that your poems do not have the charm of Manshu. It is exactly as you said, the key is not lack of wisdom, but lack of affection. If you are a monk while being peaceful If the head of the willow tree on the moonless moon makes an appointment after dusk, the poems made like that will never be inferior to Manshu. Poetry comes from the soul and emotion, and the source is dry and embarrassing, where can it come from trickling springs and vast rivers!"

Jichan smiled and said, "Xizi, if you say this, beware that the Buddha will repay you." After a short pause, he nodded and said, "It makes sense that your poems come from spirituality and emotion. Recently, I learned that the Japan-Russia agreement was signed and Japan annexed Korea. Waiting for the news, feeling indignant about state affairs, inspired my poetry. I wrote a few little poems, and I thought they were pretty good, don’t you want to take a look?” "Why don't you want to read it?" Yang Du said, "I came to Fayuan Temple to meet you, just to see the poems you wrote in the past few years."

Jichan took out a notebook from the cloth bundle, on which was inscribed the title of "Ten Manuscripts of Bazhi Toutuo's Poems".He turned a few pages and handed them to Yang Du.Yang Du saw that it said "Ganshi truncated sentences with title Lengxiang Tower and preface".The preface is: "Yu wrote the inscription on the Lengxiang Pagoda, and planned to bury it alive. Where is the mud?" Neighbors are oppressed, internal superiority is weakened, external injury is weak, and people and nature are in harmony with each other. All kinds of feelings come. The shadows of the past, suddenly appear, the sea is full of sorrow, the whole body is full of blood, and there are several chapters. The teacher has not repaid, like The religion is dying, the skull is about to wither, and the void is about to be shattered. Throwing the pen and sighing three times, it will perish forever!"

Yang Du said: "This is the case in times of worry. It seems that the great master's love is not over." So he chanted softly:
Yang Du said in shock: "Great Master, you don't look like a monk, you clearly feel the same as me!" Read it again:
"Okay!" Yang Du shot. "What a Buddhist monk, Lu Fangweng! You don't count the romantic poet monk, and the patriotic poet monk deserves it." The voice of reciting poetry was raised higher:
Yang Du closed the poem manuscript and sighed: "After all, it is a poem recited by a monk. After recitation, I have liberated myself." "Do you think I'm really liberated?" Ji Chan sneered, "If I'm really liberated, how did the previous poems come out?" Yang Du nodded and said: "That's true. I would like to ask the master, is it because the master's own cultivation skills are not good enough, or in the final analysis, Buddhism cannot make people free themselves." Jichan stared at Yang Du for a long time, and said, "Xizi, I don't think it's the time for you to talk about this topic in the past few years. I will make an agreement with you: before I pass away, I will share the Zen principles I have cultivated in Buddhism in my life." How about having a long talk with you?" Yang Du said: "Good sex is good, what if there is no chance?" Ji Chan said: "Ever since I went to Weishan Miyin Temple with you that year, I feel that you have a destiny with my Buddhism. If I am not mistaken, this opportunity must be there. If there is no such opportunity, it is me. Misunderstood. What do you think?" "Yes." Yang Du said, "This is probably what Buddhism calls self-discipline!" "Well said!" Ji Chan said happily, "My son, your Zen quality is extremely high, we have a lot of predestined relationship, and that day will definitely happen. " Yang Du smiled and said: "Master, after talking for a long time, I still don't know why you came to the capital this time!" "You don't ask me all the time, and you always pester my junior sister. I don't have time to talk about this!" Ji Chan also laughed, "I came to the capital this time to ask you to help with a big matter." "Ask me for help? Why is it such a big deal?" Yang Du was surprised: What can I do for monks? "It is like this." Jichan took a sip of tea and said, "We are planning to establish a national Buddhist association, and we have drawn up a charter. Please help pass it to the imperial court." Yang Du felt strange: the monks and nuns are also going to set up a meeting to establish a party, isn't this a strange thing? "Is your General Assembly the same as the Self-Independence Association and the Restoration Association?" "Where are you talking!" Ji Chan interrupted him, and said calmly, "We are monks who only care about political affairs, why do you think you will be in the party!" "Then why did you set up the National Federation?" "The National Buddhist Association was established for Buddhist affairs." Jichan slowly explained, "There are nearly ten thousand monasteries in the country, and more than one hundred thousand monks and nuns. There are many benefits to having a unified organization. Now Japan and Southeast Asian countries have Only China does not have a Buddhist Association. For example, after the establishment of the Association, we can use the name of the Association to summon a group of eminent monks to re-edit Buddhist scriptures and reprint a number of important classics on this basis. A Buddhist school can also be established , to recruit senior officials such as abbots, supervisors, weinas, and intellectuals from some large monasteries across the country to study scriptures in schools in turn, and ask eminent monks to teach them. They can also unite to protect the interests of the Buddhist world itself. For example, temples in various places are now Humans invaded so badly that temples and Buddhas were destroyed frequently. After the establishment of the Buddhist Association, we can speak for them.” Yang Du said: "In this way, the establishment of the Buddhist Association is also a merit." "Amitabha!" Jichan solemnly recited a sentence of Buddha, and handed over a stack of papers, "Just do one good deed, accumulate this pile of merit, try to send this charter to the imperial court, and ask the imperial court for approval. We justifiably went to build the meeting.” "Okay. It's not difficult to hand over this charter, but the difficult thing is to agree to it." Yang Du took the charter, put it on the table, and said, "Master, think about it, the state affairs are so difficult now, and the regent is always worried that the country will not be able to keep it. How can he even think about the matter of your monks, as long as he sees the word 'will', he will already be on guard." "Give it a try!" Ji Chan said with a sigh, "Jing Wu also said something similar, I think you have to try it before you feel at ease. It's what you said just now, it doesn't work by force." "I will try my best to fight for it." Yang Du picked up the charter and turned it over again, "If Zhang Xiangguo and Yuan Gongbao were still there two years ago, this matter would be easier to handle. Now there is almost no one in the imperial court, and they will only fight for power and profit. " "Hmph!" Ji Chan sneered. "Right now, China is like a wrecked ship floating in the sea. The bottom of the ship is so rotten that it is filled with water. The people on the ship are still fighting each other over trivial matters. Brother, I am not alarmist. You have to deal with yourself. This imperial court is always full of people. It will be over within one or two years. This is what Elder Wuyu told me before he passed away." "Is that the elder Wuyu from Xuedou Temple?" Yang Du asked in surprise, "Since he is an eminent monk who has achieved the Tao, he must have seen Jiwei that ordinary people can't see. What did he say?" "Elder Wuyu is indeed no ordinary person. He is a Jinshi personally bestowed by Emperor Daoguang." "Oh, there is such a thing?" Yang Du was taken aback, "It has been fifty years since Emperor Daoguang died, how old is Elder Wuyu?" "Elder Wu Yu was eighty-two years old when he passed away. Thirty-six Scholars in the top two ranks among his thirty-one years old were distributed to a county in Guiping, Guangxi. Just when he was about to take up his post, his mother died, so he had to stay at home to guard the system." Ji Chan stopped. Shut up and picked up the teacup. "After studying hard for more than ten years, I finally hoped for an official position, but I couldn't do it." Yang Du regretted. "It's exactly what you said." Jichan continued, "Elder Wuyu thought the same way back then. Unexpectedly, two years later, Hong Yang rioted in Jintian Village, Guiping County, burned down the yamen, and killed all the officials. When the news came, Wuyu Elder Yu was astonished, and thought to himself that this is really the blessing of his mother. If he went to Guiping, wouldn’t the whole family die? The world is really unpredictable. When the three-year system is over, the world is even more chaotic. In addition, his father is seriously ill, so Wu Yu is determined not to be an official anymore. , studied at home and served relatives. The elder got a lot of enlightenment from Buddhist scriptures. Later, he stopped reading other books and devoted himself to studying Buddhist scriptures. At the age of forty-five, his wife passed away, and he was sad. After he died, he simply went to Xuedou Temple to congratulate him, put on his robes, and completely escaped the world. Elder Wu Yu is intelligent and knowledgeable, and he soon became the number one eminent monk in the Buddhist world." "What an amazing person!" Yang Du sighed, "Maybe one day I will follow his path." "Okay! If I'm still alive, I'll shave you." Jichan said with a smile, "I'm afraid your sweet wife and concubine can't make up your mind." "This determination is hard to make, and it must be to the point of being ashamed of the world." Yang Du also said with a smile, "Let's not talk about this for now, master, you should go on, why does Elder Wu Yu judge the life span of the court? Only two or three years?" "Elder Wu Yu said many reasons, some of which are seen by everyone. For example, strong neighbors are bullying, the country is weak, officials are corrupt, people are hungry and cold, and so on. The elder said three special signs." "Special signs?" Yang Du's interest was greatly increased. "The first sign is," Jichan said calmly, "the then regent Dorgon escorted the six-year-old Shunzhi Emperor to enter the pass. On the eve of entering Beijing, he met a fortune teller at the Qinglong bridge. There is a couplet hanging high on the top: Blind eyes can understand the past and present, and the handicap can judge the love between idiots and men. Dorgon came closer and saw that the divination was a blind old man with a broken arm. I thought, this person is blind, see If you don't see my powerful army, of course you don't know my identity, so you can tell the truth. So I asked the fortune teller: "It is said that the army from outside the pass is about to enter the city, can they become a climate, establish a dynasty and a country?" The diviner replied: "They can sit in the world." Dorgon was happy, and asked again: "How long can the emperor's world last?" Uncle Huang, who made the most contribution, had the intention of usurping the throne. After hearing this, he was secretly proud, and asked again: "Is this true?" For orphans and widows." So Dorgon believed that the world belonged to him, and he strengthened his heart to usurp the throne. In fact, he got it wrong." "Yes, the fortune teller's words refer to today." Yang Du immediately understood. "Isn't the regent now in power, and the orphans and widows in power?" "The second sign is," Jichan continued calmly. "Ten years later, Emperor Shunzhi came to Beijing to congratulate the eminent Mongolian monk Jebtsundamba Hutuktu. Emperor Shunzhi was a very respectful Buddha, so he treated this eminent Mongolian monk very courteously and asked him about the fate of the Qing Dynasty. The eminent Mongolian monk Answer: "My body is not lacking, and our country will not be destroyed." Emperor Shunzhi was puzzled after hearing this, but it was inconvenient to ask further because of the face of the Supreme Being. So he asked: "How many generations can my dynasty be passed down?" The eminent monk replied: "Ten Emperors There are nine emperors in office, and one emperor is in Youzhou.' Emperor Shunzhi was very happy when he heard this, and said to his mother, Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang: 'My dynasty can be passed down to twenty generations of emperors.' In fact, Emperor Shunzhi also got it wrong." Yang Du said: "The words of the Mongolian eminent monk are very difficult to understand. I am not lacking, and my country will not be destroyed. What does this mean? Ten emperors, nine emperors, and one more emperor, twenty emperors is not bad!" "Look, it's hard for you, a talented man!" Jichan laughed, "I have no lack of body, which means that the word "I" has no lack of pen. If there is no lack of pen, the country will not be destroyed. Conversely, if there is no lack of Is it gone? Then it will be gone." Yang Du thought while listening.Suddenly, he understood, and said with a smile: "Master, listen to me, see if you are right. The current emperor's name is Pu Yi, and the lower right corner of the word 'Yi' (Yi) is the word 'I'. Because taboos cannot be violated, so Fan Shu' The word "yi" should be missing under the word "wo" in the lower right corner. According to the meaning of the Mongolian eminent monk: the word "wo" is missing now, and the country should perish." "Yes, yes, worthy of being a gifted scholar." Ji Chan praised with a smile. "However, mage, the following words are hard to understand. According to what the eminent monk said, it will have to be passed on for several generations." "It's not the 20th generation. You made the mistake of Emperor Shunzhi." Jichan said, "This means that after the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, ten emperors would reign, and the ninth emperor would be imprisoned. The words of the state, the elder said, may refer to the fact that the tenth emperor will escape from Beijing and return to his hometown outside the Guan to proclaim himself emperor again. Because in ancient Youzhou, in addition to the northern part of Zhili, it also included the southern part of today’s Fengtian.” Yang Du interjected: "I see, the imprisoned one refers to Emperor Guangxu, who was imprisoned by Empress Dowager Cixi for a full ten years. From Shunzhi to Xuantong, there were exactly ten emperors, and Huang Zuo ended here." Jizen nodded. "What about the third sign?" Yang Du asked anxiously. "Beijing was the capital of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, and the three gates facing south all corresponded to the year name of the dynasty that subjugated the country." "Is this a coincidence?" Yang Du couldn't help being surprised, and then counted with his fingers, "The Zhengyang Gate is in the middle, the Chongwen Gate is on the left, and the Xuanwu Gate is on the right." "That's right. Now let me ask you, a well-educated son, which year did the Yuan Dynasty die?" "He died in the 28th year of Zhizheng." Yang Du answered smoothly. "Isn't this the word '正' for Zhengyangmen?" "Oh, really." Yang Du continued, "The Ming Dynasty died in the seventeenth year of Chongzhen." "Shouldn't you answer the word 'Chong' in Chongwenmen?" Jichan tapped the tea bowl with his index finger. "What a miracle!" Yang Du's eyes widened. "Don't talk about it, Xuantong's year name just corresponds to Xuanwumen's sexual declaration." "You see, Xizi, these three signs should all be on Emperor Xuantong, and the Qing Dynasty is still alive?" Ji Chan looked at Yang Du and said, "There is one more thing that Elder Wu Yu didn't say, but I saw it. " "What did the mage's eyes see?" Yang Du felt that he had learned a lot of knowledge that he had never been exposed to before, and the harvest was really great. "Have you noticed? Emperor Tongzhi ascended the throne at age and died without children. Emperor Guangxu also ascended the throne at age and died without children. Now Emperor Xuantong ascends the throne at age. The third generation ascended the throne at age, and the second generation died without children. If Aixinjueluo's family and luck are not destroyed at this point, then the law of heaven will not tolerate it!" The evening drum of Fayuan Temple thumped three times, and the faint sound of cock crowing could be heard in the distance.Jichan drank the rest of the tea in the bowl, and said: "It's the third watch, go to sleep. You can help me read and polish the regulations of the Buddhist Association tomorrow. It doesn't matter whether you hand it up or not. This imperial court is going to perish anyway.” After all, he fell on the Zen bed and soon fell asleep. Yang Du couldn't fall asleep for a long time. The trend of Manchu subjugation seems to be irreversible, and there is no need to work for it anymore.Born in the last days, with such a fate, there is nothing he can do about it, but it is a pity that this world full of emperor knowledge has not been displayed. The matter of sending Zen can be moved to the new dynasty, but what is he in the new dynasty? The new dynasty has its own group of ministers, will it still leave a place for itself? A few days later, Yang Du passed the constitution of the Buddhist Association to Zai Feng through Zai Ze.At this time, Zaifeng was struggling with the power distribution of the first cabinet under the constitutional system, how could he care about such matters!Without even looking at it, he stuffed it into the wastebasket.Jichan waited at Fayuan Temple for half a month, but there was no news of the mud cow entering the sea, so he had to go back to Tiantong Temple. Soon the new cabinet was announced. There is one prime minister, Yikuang. The two associate ministers are Xu Shichang and Na Tong.In addition, there are ten departments of foreign affairs, civil affairs, degree branch, academic department, navy, army, law, agriculture, industry and commerce, postal communication, and Lifan.Nine of the thirteen ministers of state were Manchurians, and six of the nine Manchurians belonged to the royal family, so the Chinese ridiculed the new cabinet as the royal family cabinet. Zaifeng's true face of strengthening the power of the royal family through constitutionalism is fully exposed. Enthusiastic constitutionalists at home and abroad are disappointed. The revolutionaries launched armed uprisings in various provinces one after another. This grand stage, built by the Manchus outside the pass for 268 years, has staged not only majestic comedies, but also tragedies that humiliate the country and the sick people. Finally, the shocking cannon sounded from Wuchang Chu Watchtower, and the prophecy of Elder Wuyu was confirmed. The history of the ancient Chinese nation is looking forward to its glorious page!
