Yang Du 唐浩明 8372Words 2018-03-16
In the thin morning fog, the first train from Tokyo to Yokohama was running.A young man in his early twenties sat on the hard seat by the window in the third car.He was wearing a stiff black woolen uniform, with a dense row of big brass buttons, from the bottom one to the top one, and even the two rows of discipline buttons were fastened tightly. He has a handsome face, and the black wool peaked cap on his head is neatly worn.He sat upright, with his palms flat on his lap.The train was moving at high speed, shaking from time to time, but he remained motionless, keeping a distance of three or four inches between his back and the cushion.Although this person has immature features and a thin body, it can be seen that he is a well-trained young man with a standard military temperament. He is Cai Genyin, a student of the current affairs school who has changed his name to Cai E.

Since getting in the car, Cai E has kept his mouth expressionless, not speaking, and he didn't even say hello to the seatmate beside him.He tilted his head slightly, staring at the trees and farmland passing by outside the window, without blinking, his appearance was very calm, even indifferent, but in fact, his mind was undulating and rolling. Five years ago, when the sixteen-year-old Cai Genyin was studying hard at the New Deal School, a coup took place, and China changed overnight. The governor Chen Baozhen, the inspector Huang Zunxian, and Xuezheng Xu Renzhu were all dismissed from their posts and sent to the army. The current affairs school was forcibly closed, and Xiong Xiling was transferred to the custody of Fenghuang County, where he was originally from. Tang Caichang, who taught Chinese, fled to Japan. The students drifted away.Cai E didn't want to go back to his hometown, so he gathered five or six good friends and came to Shanghai to enroll in Nanyang Public School. After arriving in Shanghai, he learned that his mentor Liang Qichao was in Japan, so he wrote a letter to a trustee and took it with him. After a few months of wandering, Liang Qichao actually received it.Liang Zhicai was an aspiring young man. Although he himself was very poor financially, he managed to gather more than one hundred silver dollars and remitted it to Cai, so Cai and several of his classmates were able to come to Japan.

At that time, Liang Qichao was living in Tokyo. Everyone was penniless and couldn't afford to rent a house, so they all crowded into Liang's small house.I slept on the floor at night, rolled up the quilts and piled them in the corner when I got up in the morning, and my life was very poor. But Cai Genyin and his partners were in a very comfortable mood.Because here they can talk about state affairs with Master Liang freely, scold the imperial court and the Queen Mother, and see the prosperity and strength of Japan with their own eyes, so they can learn from its successful experience on its land. The young patriots are burning with fire-like enthusiasm in their hearts, and the joy brought to them by a fulfilling spiritual life exceeds ten times and a hundred times the troubles caused by lack of supplies.Later, Liang Qichao raised some money for them from overseas Chinese and placed them in the school.Cai entered Datong High School where Liang was the principal. He cherishes this rare opportunity, often hungry and diligently study various knowledge.Cai Genyin's hard-working character was tempered by his poor family.

Cai Genyin's grandfather was an honest farmer. He married his wife Zhang and had two sons. The family of four struggled to survive. One year, Baoqing Mansion encountered a great famine. On the way home from digging wild vegetables, the couple saw a thirteen or fourteen-year-old girl hanging from a dead tree. The little girl's clothes were torn and she was as thin as a stick. They knew that she must have hanged herself because she couldn't bear the hunger. The poor were kind and sympathetic, so the couple let the little girl down from the tree and planned to find a broken mat to wrap it up and bury it.While rolling the mat, Mrs. Zhang suddenly felt a trace of heat in the little girl's chest. "Not dead yet!" Zhang said to her husband in surprise. "Hurry up and take her home!" the husband said, and he put the little girl on his back and carried her home step by step.Mrs. Zhang poured warm boiled water into the little girl, and after a while, the little girl came back to life.Full of joy, Mrs. Zhang made a small bowl of porridge from the few grains of rice at home and let her drink it.It turned out that the little girl's family all died of starvation and illness. She was suffering and hungry, so she had no choice but to commit suicide.Mrs. Zhang felt sorry for her life, and remembered that her family was poor, and it would be difficult for her son to marry a wife in the future, so she took the little girl by her side as a child bride.Five years later, let her consummate the house with her eldest son.In the second year, she gave birth to Gen Yin to the Cai family.Gen Yin's father learned to be a tailor at that time.Peasants can't get enough to eat, and they wear a piece of clothing for decades, so the tailor's business can be imagined. The family is suffering, and Gen Yin can't study. There was a private school teacher named Fan Zhui nearby. Seeing that Gen Yin was smart, he let him study for free.Gen Yin was gifted and enlightened, with a photographic memory, and was selected as a scholar at the age of thirteen.Later, Fan Zhui came to the Current Affairs School to teach, so he brought him along. In this way, Cai Genyin became Liang Qichao's most proud disciple.

Not long after Cai Genyin came to Tokyo, he occasionally went to Hongwen College, and unexpectedly found that Fan Zhui was also studying here. The reunion of teachers and students in a foreign country made him even more delighted.Later, Liang Qichao moved to Yokohama to run Xinmin Congbao, and Cai and Fan often went to Yokohama to meet Liang. In the year of Gengzi, Cai Genyin returned to China to participate in the self-reliance army uprising at the request of Tang Caichang. The uprising soon failed, Tang Caichang was brutally killed, and Cai Genyin fled to Japan again. The failure of the uprising made him deeply realize the importance of military affairs, so he decided to abandon literature and practice martial arts.Liang Qichao was very supportive and recommended it to his friend Yoshio Sato, the dean of the Non-commissioned Officer Academy.Zuo Teng accepted Cai Genyin and incorporated him into the third cavalry division. Before entering the school, Liang Qichao said to him: "You are now a soldier, and you should have a suitable name. An ancient poem says 'the lotus wears the sword, and the autumn moon hides the knife ring'. Let's go!" From then on, Cai Genyin changed his name to Cai E.

Cai E, with the lofty ambition of "Saving blood to save the people in our generation, will live forever", diligently studied various military skills in the non-commissioned officer school, and was excellent in all subjects. Together with Jiang Baili and Zhang Xiaozhun, he was known as the three outstanding non-commissioned officers.Last month, he graduated in second place, and the school awarded him a Chrysanthemum Medal. At this time, all provinces in the country were preparing to build new armies, and Cai E's outstanding performance in the non-commissioned officer academy received domestic attention.People from Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Yunnan and other provinces came to contact him and hired him as a military instructor.Having lived in Japan for many years, Cai E misses his motherland and his fellow countrymen struggling in poverty all the time. The ultimate goal of studying here is to save the country and the people. Now that we are going back to China via Yokohama, can the hearts of passionate young people with lofty ideals not be surging?

"Mr. Liang!" Cai E stood upright outside the fence and called softly. "Coming!" A person came out of the room while answering. "Chongzi, why are you here?" Cai E was surprised when he saw Yang Jun walking over.It turned out that Cai E heard that Yang Du had arrived in Tokyo last summer, so he came to Hongwen College to look for him. He happened to be out and did not see him.In winter, Cai E went to visit again, but unexpectedly Yang Du went back to China. In the early summer of this year, he came to Hongwen College for the third time, looking for Fan Zhui, Huang Xing, Liu Kuiyi and others.Kuiyi told him that Yang Du's younger brother Yang Jun was here and also at Hongwen College.Cai E immediately went to see Yang Jun, and the two met and had a very speculative conversation. It just so happened that several classmates in Yang Jun's dormitory went to visit Mount Fuji in those few days. Cai E lived in Yang Jun's dormitory for five days and became good friends.

"Brother Zhuo Ru said that someone came today, so it was you!" Yang Jun hugged Cai E very affectionately. "Chongzi, I heard that your brother is here, is he here?" "Brother Songpo, it's you!" When he was asking, Yang Du came out with a smile, followed by Wang Daiyi. "I haven't seen you for five years, and you have grown into a handsome and tall man!" Yang Du held Cai E's hand tightly, and looked him up and down carefully. "I went to Hongwen College to look for you twice, but I couldn't find you. I didn't expect you to go back to the country to take the champion exam."

Cai E was talking to Yang Du, and at the same time greeted Dai Yi affectionately. Liang Qichao and his wife went out and introduced to everyone: "Songpo graduated from the cavalry department of the non-commissioned officer school. We booked him a ten-day boat ticket to Shanghai." Since Dai Yi was a military classmate with Cai E, he was particularly concerned about his whereabouts, and hurriedly asked, "Which province will he serve in the army?" "It's not decided yet, we'll talk about it when we return to China." Cai E replied. Liang Qichao said: "Everyone enters the house. After dinner, we will go to Zongchi Temple together. The Yokohama Buddhist community held a feast at Zongchi Temple this afternoon to entertain three eminent monks from China. I have already told the abbot, Elder Hengjing, that we all to participate.”

Everyone was very excited, and Yang Du was even more happy.Because that year at Miyin Temple, he occasionally heard Master Zhifan say that among the five sects and seven sects derived from Zen, the Caodong sect has gradually declined in China, and since it was introduced to Japan in the Tang Dynasty, it has flourished on the Japanese island. Now those who study Cao Dongzong in China have to go to Japan to study instead. The headquarter of Japan's Caodong Sect is Sojiji Temple in Yokohama, which governs 15,000 temples throughout Japan.Last year, Yang Du wanted to visit the Zongchi Temple, but he had no chance. Now it is even more interesting to visit the temple with a few good friends, especially Liang Qichao, who claims to have a deep research on Buddhism.

Sojiji Temple is located in the western suburbs of Yokohama, twelve or three miles away from Yamashita Town. The five men are all young people, neither riding a car nor riding a horse. Everyone walks all the way, watching the wild scenery in early winter, and talking about topics that are of interest to them. It arrived before I knew it. Sojiji Temple is indeed worthy of being the head temple of the Soto sect in Japan. The Brahma Temple is tall and magnificent, and it gives people a sense of solemnity of a famous temple and treasure temple from afar.Liang Qichao pointed to the courtyard wall and hall and introduced to everyone: "Master Heyuan crossed the sea to learn scriptures in the Tang Dynasty. I went to Dongshan, Yifeng County, Jiangxi Province for alms, and visited Master Jingfeng, and heard Master Jingfeng imparting the true meaning of Caodong to the monks." "What is the true meaning of Cao Dongzong?" Dai Yi interjected. He has no research on Buddhism, but he is interested. "Don't interrupt, listen to Zhuo Ru." Yang Du knew a little about Cao Dongzong, but not as much about Weiyang Zong. He was about to ask Liang Qichao for this knowledge. "The true meaning of Cao Dongzong, you listen." Liang Qichao, who was indeed a talented and well-educated leader of the Reformation School, read fluently, "Before the middle of the night, it's no wonder that we meet and don't know each other, and we still feel nostalgic Moon dislike. Partially centered. Missing wife meets ancient mirror. It is clear that there is nothing real when meeting. Hugh is even more confused and still recognizes the shadow. Coming in the middle, there is no way to separate the dust, but if you can not be taboo for today, it is better than breaking your tongue in the past. Talent. Both in the middle, there is no need to avoid the two-edged confrontation, a good hand is like a lotus in the fire, as if it has its own ambition to rise to the sky. In the middle, if there is no one who dares to make peace, everyone wants to go out of the ordinary, fold it back into the charcoal sit." "It's really interesting! What's the saying of 'Lost Wife Meets Ancient Mirror', monks don't marry wives, but the patriarch of Cao Dongzong made his wife into his true meaning." Dai Yi's words made everyone laugh. "I didn't understand a word of what it said." Cai E didn't respect God or believe in Buddhism. He felt that these mysterious and mysterious words were very tasteless. "Zhuo Ru, it is said that this is the theory of the five monarchs and ministers of Cao Dongzong, isn't it?" Yang Du asked. "That's right, it seems that Xizi has research on Cao Dongzong." Liang Qichao said with a smile. "Where do I have any research! I heard a monk say it occasionally in Miyin Temple that year, but I can't recite a word of your true meaning." "Brother Zhuo Ru, please give us a brief explanation, and enlighten our ignorance." Yang Jun begged. "I've finished telling the story just now, and you will understand." Liang Qichao glanced at the four compatriots. Except for Cai E who was looking around, the other three were listening carefully. "Back then, Master Heyuan was just like you. He didn't understand the truth at all. He asked Master Jingfeng. Jingfeng said that you should place the order here. You will understand after staying for three months. Heyuan made the order in Dongshan From then on, he listened to the scriptures during the day and pondered at night. Three months later, he really suddenly realized. One day, he said to Jingfeng: "Master, the disciple understands. This is in the middle, which refers to the king, which is the upright position." , is the empty realm, originally there is nothing. Partially centered, it is the minister, it is the partial position, it is the form realm, and there are all phenomena. Coming from the center, it is the king looking at the minister, and it is the center and doing things against the law. Partial to the center, it is the minister facing the king, It’s partial to the center and upright to keep things in order. It’s also central to the unity of the monarch and his ministers. Yang Du listened silently, half understanding. Yang Jun shook his head: "I still don't understand anything." Dai Yi yelled: "What does this have to do with 'Lost Wife Meets Ancient Mirror'!" Only Cai E, he didn't listen to the lecture at all, he was admiring the exquisite architecture of Zongji Temple and the faithful men and women wearing kimonos coming and going. "It's fine if you don't understand, it seems that you have no roots of wisdom in previous lives. Don't talk about it, just look at the halls and Bodhisattvas!" In fact, Liang Qichao himself didn't understand very well, and he couldn't explain clearly when he went on, so he just stopped live.Pointing to the main hall, he said, "This is the hall that Master Heyuan built according to the White Horse Temple he copied after he came back from China." It was only now that everyone seriously appreciated the halls of the Zongchi Temple, which were almost the same as the famous Buddhist temples in China. If all the men and women who came to worship were dressed in mandarin jackets and cheongsams, it would really be like returning to the hometown that they miss day and night. "Xizi, I think this Zongchi Temple is a bit like your Kaifu Temple in Changsha, do you think it is?" Liang Qichao asked Yang Du. "Yes, I think it's a bit similar." Yang Du replied. "When I saw it, I remembered my days in Changsha. Although I didn't stay in Shiwu School for a long time, I left the deepest mark in my heart." Liang Qichao thought of Kaifu Temple from Zongchi Temple, and then from Kaifu Temple The current affairs school, from the current affairs school, reminds Tan Sitong and Tang Caichang who died heroically for the reformation.Thinking of this, he became emotional and said in a trembling voice, "I will never forget the friends I made in Changsha." Wang Daiyi and Yang Jun had already walked to the front. Yang Du and Cai E walked on both sides of Liang Qichao, one left and one right. After hearing his words from the bottom of his heart, they both knew who Liang Qichao was missing at this time, and they couldn't help it for a while. Silent, remembering.Undoubtedly, Tan and Tang are also heroes they admire in their hearts. "Xizi, Songpo, you are from Hunan, and I am from Canton. Forty or fifty years ago, we Cantonese fought with you Hunanese for more than ten years. As a result, the Hunanese won and the Cantonese lost. There are also many Cantonese who hate Hunanese. But from my heart, I don’t like my fellow-townsman Hong Xiuquan, but I respect your fellow-townsman Zeng Guofan.” Yang Du stared at Liang Qichao, but didn't make a sound.Cai E was quite surprised and asked, "Master Liang, is this really the case?" "It's true." Liang Qichao said, "Mr. Zeng Wenzheng is not only a modern man, but also a unique figure in history; not only in our country, but also in the whole world. After I arrived in Japan, I I read "The Complete Works of Zeng Wenzheng Gong" from beginning to end, and the more I read, the more I admire him from the bottom of my heart." Cai E naturally heard a lot about Zeng Guofan and the outstanding achievements of a group of generals of the Hunan Army under his leadership. He also read a few of Zeng's articles, but he did not read the complete works.Wouldn't the great figures who have been seen in the history of the world have the same status as Sakyamuni, Jesus, and Confucius? The teacher lifted Zeng Guofan to such a height, which Cai E had never heard of before. With a strong desire for knowledge, he asked: "Master Liang, could you briefly tell us what Zeng Guofan is most worthy of our study?" Liang Qichao said solemnly: "Zeng Wenzheng is not an outstanding genius. It can even be said that he was relatively dull among many heroes at that time. The environment in his life was mostly unsatisfactory adversity, but he immediately Virtue, meritorious deeds, and words are immortal, and what he has achieved is astonishing in the past and the present, and no one can compare with him. His life is due to his determination." Liang Qichao stopped unknowingly, and Cai and Yang also stopped.Looking at Cai E's staring eyes and listening intently, Liang Qichao couldn't help but think of the scene of teachers and students sitting and asking questions in the current affairs school five years ago.The bright boy back then has now become one of the famous three outstanding non-commissioned officers. He will return to China to take on a heavy responsibility and will soon become a senior instructor of the new domestic army. Saving the country and the people requires a large number of enthusiastic political activists, as well as a large number of hard-working military strategists. .Liang Qichao placed infinite hopes on this most proud student in his life. He hoped that the students could take Zeng Guofan as a role model in life and establish immortal achievements like Zeng.Just like returning to the podium of the School of Current Affairs, Liang Qichao was in high spirits, and he spoke high-spirited words: "Zeng Wenzheng has lofty aspirations and grand ambitions. Frustration. Don't seek quick results, accumulate every inch of money, accept it with emptiness, use it with diligence, plant it with strength, persevere with it, be handsome with sincerity, be brave and diligent, go through hardships, and finally become a great man of a generation, a role model for the ages .” This passage from Liang Qichao inspired Cai E a lot.He said: "I have read too few of Zeng Wenzheng's articles. His complete works are so many volumes that I have never had time to read them all." Liang Qichao said: "Mencius said that everyone can be Yao and Shun. I can't believe whether Yao and Shun can be learned and practiced, but I believe that Zeng Wenzhenggong can be learned and practiced. Read his articles, you can learn He is a man. Every word of his words is derived from experience, and is practical. It is friendly and interesting to read, and can make people follow suit. Yuan Hao asked, "Mandarin ducks are embroidered according to teaching, don't compare gold needles with gold needles. People. Zeng Wenzhenggong is just the opposite. He is a person who treats people with golden needles. I have an idea recently. When I have time after a while, I want to compile a copy of Zeng Wenzhenggong’s words, which are divided into governance and scholarship. , Governance and other aspects, excerpt his good words, so that all the busy people like you in the world can also learn from him." Cai E said: "My master's actions are of great merit." Liang Qichao said: "Mr. Zeng Wenzheng is unique in leading troops to fight. I will give you all his good words in military affairs. In the future, you can carry forward and develop them in combination with the actual situation of the army, and use them as teaching materials to train the army. Get twice the result with half the effort.” Cai E said: "Then I thank the teacher in advance." The teacher and the student were talking enthusiastically, but Yang Du smiled and said to Liang Qichao: "I am a descendant of the Hunan Army, and I have less affection for Zeng Guofan than you, a descendant of the Guangdong Army. To be honest, when Hong Xiuquan played The tricks of the heavenly father and brother are not worthy of praise, but Zeng Guofan is not a real great husband. If he hadn't been so stingy about his own family's self-interest and for the sake of the country and society, he should have taken advantage of Jinling's opportunity. Lead the Hunan Army to the north to overthrow the Manchu court. If so, how can there be such a shame in the defeat of the Sino-Japanese War in the Sino-Japanese War and the escape of the empress?" Liang Qichao laughed and said: "This is Mr. Shi Xiangqi's high theory, but the high is too high, and it is not true. What should we do if we are invincible? The Manchus continue to sit in his country, and Zeng Wenzheng has a good reputation in his career. is completely destroyed.” Liang Qichao put away his smile, looked at Yang Du and continued: "However, I also admire Naishi's strategy. There is Zeng Wenzheng's stupid loyalty, and Mr. Xiangqi's ingenious strategy, so forty or fifty years ago, the Chinese stage It’s only when you’re on the scene that it’s so vivid and brilliant. And it’s all about you Hunan people who are playing the leading role!” Cai E said: "It is only in the past few decades that the people of Hunan showed their faces. In the past, they were always called barbarians. In the Spring and Autumn Period, when the princes gathered in the Central Plains, Chu Zi's status could only be a fire-burning worker in the kitchen. In the Tang Dynasty Others say that Liu Huizhong was a Jinshi, which is unprecedented. Thinking about it, I am really ashamed." "Since Zeng Wenzheng was born and the Hunan army won the battle, it has been great. In the past few decades, there is no army without Hunan, and more than half of the governors and governors in the world. Which province can compare with your Hunan? Today, I To be fair, most of the people who really do great things in the world are from Hunan. This is called God has treated Hunan badly in the past, and now he has to make up for it with favoritism.” Yang Du was excited by Liang Qichao's sincere words. He thought about it, too, there are indeed many heroes among Hunan people, and even with 18 million Hunan people, China will not perish.Since ancient times, there has been a saying that "although Chu has three households, Chu must die when Qin is destroyed". Today, Hunan has entered a civilized state from a barren land, and the atmosphere is very popular. In the past few years, aspiring young people from Hunan have traveled to the east one after another, and the number of students studying in Japan is the largest and the impact is the greatest.Liang Qichao's article has had a great motivating effect on China, why can't I write an article "Talks of Youth in Hunan"?A strong impulse hit Yang Du's chest, he really wanted to wave his pen immediately to express the strangeness in his chest! "Liang Layman, Elder Hengjing has sent young monks to wait here for a long time." When they walked near the Arhat Hall, a young monk came out of the monk's room and bowed to Liang Qichao in Japanese. "Oh, it turned out to be Master Haijin!" Liang Qichao said with a smile, "I'm sorry, our conversation was delayed. Has the welcome party started yet?" Haijin raised his head and said: "The elder has been waiting for a long time, but the layman has not come. He thought the layman was busy and couldn't come today. The meeting has just started. Please come with me." Yang Du saw that Haijin was born with thick eyebrows, fierce eyes, short head and short legs, very resembling a short-legged King Kong. It is very difficult to find such a fierce monk in domestic monasteries.Haijin led the five of them into the preaching hall. This is a spacious lecture hall, with hundreds of old cattail mats on the floor, and twenty or thirty Japanese monks sitting cross-legged on the cattail mats, all wearing ochre-yellow monk robes.Sitting at the table in front of him was an old monk with white beard and hair in his seventies and eighties, talking to the monks.Liang Qichao quietly told Yang Du: "That is Abbot Hengjing." Yang Du nodded, seeing that this old oriental monk was also quite strange, like those monks in Miyin Temple who had no characteristics at all. They are quite different. He listened attentively to Heng Jing's speech, but unfortunately he was late, the opening remarks had already been finished, and he only heard the last sentence: "Now Master Zhifan from the Chinese Buddhist scriptures transmission group will pass on the scriptures to everyone!" Twenty or thirty Japanese monks joined together and bowed their heads together to welcome the guests from afar.A monk came to the side and spoke to several people in blue and gray monk robes sitting here.It turned out that this monk was an interpreter, and he translated Heng Jing's Japanese into Chinese for Chinese guests.A tall, thin, middle-aged monk stood up in his blue-gray robe, with a long string of maroon rosary beads hanging on his chest. He walked to the table, saluted everyone first, and then sat beside Heng Jing and talked. Lai: "The poor monk's studies and breeding are sparse. This time, I came to your temple to ask all the masters about the process of the Caodong School's promotion from the Middle Kingdom to your country for more than a thousand years." The monks listened quietly, Liang Qichao and others also listened attentively, but Yang Du was surprised: Isn't this Master Zhifan from Miyin Temple? How did he come to Japan? And how did you switch from Weiyangzong to Caodongzong? In Yang Du's mind, the scene of a month in Miyin Temple in Weishan came to mind. He thought of Master Bazhitou Tuoji, the monk Dakong who was guarding Fengshuao alone, and Ma Fuyi who gave the Japanese sword to the wild boar. "By the way, I said for a long time that I would find an antique connoisseur to appraise the Japanese sword. I almost forgot about it these days. I must visit someone when I return to Tokyo!" Yang Du was just thinking wildly.Master Zhifan uttered a lotus-like lecture on promoting Dharma, but he didn't listen to a single word. When he saw all the kneeling Japanese monks standing up, he realized that the process of teaching the Dharma was over, so he also stood up.Elder Heng Jing led three Chinese monks in green and gray robes walking towards them, and Liang Qichao and others rushed forward to meet them. "This is Liang Zhuoru, a famous scholar in your country." Heng Jing pointed to Liang Qichao and introduced in not-so-fluent Chinese, then turned to introduce Liang Qichao's three green and gray monk robes, "This is Master Zhifan, Master Liyun, and Fa Yu. Masters are all eminent monks with profound Buddhist studies in your country. The meeting of famous scholars and eminent monks in our temple today is not only the fate of three lives, but also a good story in our temple. Good, good!" Before Liang Qichao introduced his friends, Venerable Zhifan said in surprise, "Mr. Xizi, I never expected you to be here. I have been looking for you all this time." "Master Zhifan, it really is you!" Yang Du stepped forward happily. "Who is this layman? Do you know him?" Heng Jing asked. "He is layman Yang Xizi from my hometown. We met in Miyin Temple many years ago." The reunion of old friends in a foreign country made Liang Qichao, Cai E, Yang Jun, and Dai Yi even more festive, and Heng Jing also seemed happy, and hurriedly called everyone to enter the dining hall. Zhifan and Yang Du sat together.Yang Du asked Master Jichan about it.Zhifan told him that Master Jichan had been invited by Tiantong Temple to be the abbot there.Due to his profound attainments in Buddhism and outstanding poetic talent, Master Jichan has gained a great reputation in China. All monasteries across the country are preparing for the Buddhist Association and plan to elect him as the president.Zhifan also specially told Yang Du: "On the eve of going abroad, Master Jichan wrote a special letter, asking me to hand this letter to you when I arrive in Japan. I couldn't find you everywhere in Kobe, Osaka, and Tokyo, and I was thinking about it. It may be brought back in the original letter, it is really the blessing of the Bodhisattva, I have not failed the master's entrustment, after the meal, you and I will go to the monk's room to get it." Yang Du also told Zhifan about the situation during his stay in Japan, and asked him to tell Master Jichan after returning home. At the banquet, the guests, monks and laymen talked very enthusiastically. After the meal, Heng Jing took everyone to the abbot's room for tea.Yang Du followed Zhifan to the guest room of Zongchi Temple.Zhifan took out Bazhi Toutuo's letter.Yang Du opened it and read softly: "Master Jichan wants me not to be a faction in the Japanese student community, but to unite with all and save the country together. This is right." Yang Du thought to himself. After reading it again, there is a poem of Qilu in the back:
Yang Du received the letter, and said to Zhifan: "Please tell Master Ji Zen when you return to China, and say that I, Yang Du, would like to receive the Dharma teaching. Thank you for the poem." He asked again, "Have you booked the boat ticket to return to China?" "It's booked, and we will set sail early in the morning the day after tomorrow." "Then I'll be the host tomorrow, and invite you three to drink tea." "Thank you." Zhifan said, "Tomorrow the Yokohama Buddhist community will hold a water and land dojo for the 950th anniversary of Master Heyuan's death. We are going to chant sutras. We appreciate your kindness." "Oh." Yang Du stood up and paced, "So, you won't be free tomorrow, so I have to write a word to Master Jichan!" He took two more steps, stopped suddenly, and said, "Alright, Master loves poetry, I'll write him two poems!" "That's great!" Zhi Fan took out the fountain pen Heng Jing gave him from his arms, and handed it to Yang Du. "You just use it to write." After speaking, he found another piece of paper. Yang Du unscrewed the fountain pen, thought for a while, and wrote:
"Oh, Mr. Xizi, you really have the talent of Li Taibai!" Zhifan was surprised to see that Yang Du wrote two poems of Qilu almost without thinking. "You must bring it to Master Jichan!" "Definitely, definitely!" Zhi Fan said as he solemnly put it into the cloth bag. "Master Zhifan, let me ask you one more question." "Who?" "Dakong, who guards the radish in Fengshuao, is still in the temple?" "He is no longer in Secret Seal Temple." "Why?" Yang Du was taken aback. "He was originally a wandering monk who temporarily placed orders. Later, some people said that he often had contacts with some nonsensical lay people. The abbot said a few words to him, and he left soon." "Do you know where he went?" "do not know." Just as he was talking, Vajra Haijin came in and said, "The elder asked the mage to go over and talk." Yang Du said to Zhi Fan: "You go, I'll see you off at the pier the morning after tomorrow."
