Chapter 57 China Wants to Learn from "New Rural Development"

In November 2006, I was again invited to give a speech on the "New Rural Movement" at the "Central Party School", the school of the Communist Party of China.The Chinese Communist Party had proposed an invitation a long time ago, but the time has not been moved, so it has been delayed until now. With the promotion of China's opening up and economic reforms, the gap between China's coastal areas and inland areas, urban areas and rural areas has widened.In order to solve the problem of the gap between urban and rural areas, through the power of the Chinese government, implement the "Western Development" and "New Countryside Construction".I heard that the "New Countryside Construction" is planned and implemented in the model of the "Korean New Countryside Movement", that is, to develop the rural economy and improve the quality of life of farmers.In order to learn the model of the New Countryside Movement, many Chinese civil servants went to South Korea to study in depth; in universities, there are also various thematic studies on the New Countryside Movement.The reason why the Communist Party of China asked me to share the experience of the New Countryside Movement was precisely because they wanted to hear my account of my real experience of following my father and directly observing my father’s promotion of the New Countryside Movement.

The venue for my speech is the Central Party School, which is the education institution for the cadres of the Chinese Communist Party.This place can be said to be an elite breeding ground.When President Hu Jintao was vice-chairman, he also served as the principal of the Central Party School, and now Vice-Chairman Zeng Qinghong is the principal.It is said that I am the first Korean to speak here. Those who came to listen to the lecture, ranging from high-level civil servants who will be China's future leaders, to three hundred doctoral students who are currently majoring in the New Countryside Movement at the Central Party School, filled the entire lecture hall.After I opened with a simple greeting, I immediately entered the main topic.First, a two-and-a-half-minute film about the New Countryside Movement prepared in South Korea was played. This film was made by the assistant staff after digging through past materials.After the film ended, we began to officially enter the content of the speech.

I explained the historical and historical background of Korea when the Saemaul movement was launched, the spirit of the Saemaul movement, and the reasons and results of the Saemaul movement’s success, and explained it with specific examples.I sang "Using our power to create a better village" and told everyone that this "Song of the New Countryside" was a song written by my father after he came out of the bath, lying in bed for several days and nights , which is of great help in inspiring the New Countryside Movement.I explained the origin of this song to the people present, and everyone praised it.

During the course of the speech, the listeners listened attentively with their ears upright, unwilling to miss any key points, and took notes by heart.You can feel the enthusiasm of China to learn from the New Countryside Movement.From them, I saw the belief and enthusiasm of the generation of parents in the 1970s who believed that "life will be better in the future" and "just do it". I think China is scary. It has vast land, rich resources, and many talents. If there is something to learn, it will ask anyone for advice. If there is a successful system, it will directly emulate it.With such enthusiasm and hard work, it is not difficult to imagine how fast China's future development will be.

In addition to Hallyu, we also exported the New Countryside Movement to China.We have created a strong country, and we have also become the object of some of their policy development.With our potential capabilities, we will definitely be able to advance, and we believe that cooperating with them will expand the development stage of our country.From now on, we must be at the forefront and create another example of development in the 21st century. I think that is the responsibility of national leaders.
