Yun Daiying and his classmates participated in the anti-Japanese patriotic movement, distributing leaflets and boycotting Japanese products. When he bought a bottle of ink or a basketball, he had to check to see if it was a Chinese product, showing a high degree of patriotic enthusiasm. In 1919, when the May 4th Movement broke out, Yun Daiying was the director of the High School Affiliated to Zhonghua University. After hearing the news, he immediately mobilized the students in Wuhan to respond positively. patriotic movement.

He is a man with lofty ideals and firm confidence. In a letter to his friends recorded in his diary on July 8, 1919, he said: "The person who is looking forward to the British with one step, the British Daiying has long been responsible for himself. One day in his life, he will do one day for mankind, and he must accept one day. The effect of the day. Daiying never welcomes failure, and he is confident that he will never rely on ideals. For those who dare not forget, they should proceed steadily and earnestly, seeking the realization of the purest ideal. Even if Daiying dies today, he believes in himself Friends are willing to do things for mankind resolutely. Only this spirit is passed on, and the ideal will eventually be realized."

In order to spread revolutionary ideas, he visited Beijing to seek the truth, met Li Dazhao and Deng Zhongxia, met Mao Zedong on Hengjie Street in Wuchang, and started the cooperation and exchange between Wuhan "Liqun Publishing House" and Changsha "Culture Publishing House".Through earnest study and assiduous practice, Yun Daiying finally found Marxism. He went to Luzhou, Sichuan to spread the revolutionary fire, and was persecuted for no reason by the warlords and tyrants. They finally gave up any illusions about using established forces to carry out social reforms, and realized that the people must be the masters in order to save China. In the summer vacation of 1923, he left Sichuan. After attending the second League Congress, he was entrusted by the party to come to Shanghai with great enthusiasm. He served as the propaganda minister of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League in Shanghai, and edited "Chinese Youth", and started a magnificent career as a professional revolutionist. career. He often said: "I don't have any valuable things on me, only a pair of myopia glasses, worth a few dollars. The phosphorus on my body can only make four boxes of matches. I wish my phosphorus would emit more heat and light, I hope he will burn up, burn down the old China, and give birth to a new China!"

On May 6, 1930, Yun Daiying was unfortunately arrested in Shanghai.Gu Shunzhang betrayed him and confessed to him. When Chiang Kai-shek heard that he had captured Yun Daiying, as if he had found a treasure, he first sent someone to persuade him to surrender: "You are a member of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang, a leader of the Chinese youth, and an outstanding talent in the country. I hope you will return to the Kuomintang to work, and we will never treat you badly. " Then he went out in person to meet Yun Daiying in person at the official residence near the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, and invited him to dinner.Yun Daiying immediately said categorically to Chiang Kai-shek: "Although you and I didn't have much contact in the Whampoa Military Academy, we still understand each other. Don't have any hopes for me. Just do what you want!"

It turned out that after the "Zhongshan Ship Incident" in March 1926, the party sent Yun Daiying to serve as the chief political instructor of the Whampoa Military Academy.Chiang Kai-shek, who was the principal of the military academy at the time, felt that Yun Daiying was a talent, and he valued him very much, so he tried to win him over.Chiang Kai-shek was very particular about his life. Whenever he ate something, he asked his adjutant to give Yun Daiying a copy.Yun Daiying refused to accept it at first, but later comrades suggested that he accept it and bring it to everyone to eat.He brought canned food, chocolate candies, etc. to everyone for the "tooth-beating festival".Chiang Kai-shek lost things in vain, but did not shake Yun Daiying's revolutionary stance in the slightest. This time, Chiang Kai-shek failed to persuade him to surrender, so he made up his mind to kill him.

At noon on April 29, 1931, Yun Daiying walked out of the cell singing "The Internationale".Before execution, the enemy asked: "What else do you have to say? I will give you a chance." Yun Daiying glared at him and said, "I regret that I have done too little work for our party." Wang Zhennan, chief of the Military Judicial Department, yelled loudly: "Yun Daiying knelt down to be tortured!" Yun Daiying stared at the enemy with burning eyes, and sternly refused: "Communists never kneel!" Facing the executioner, he delivered his final speech His speech: "Chiang Kai-shek followed Yuan Shikai's old path, massacred patriotic youths, and flattered imperialism. He is even worse than Yuan Shikai, and he will suffer the consequences!" The enemy was terrified, and Wang Zhennan hurriedly ordered execution. But facing the upright Yun Daiying, the executioner trembled and couldn't pull the trigger for a long time. The executive had no choice but to change another executioner to shoot.Yun Daiying was shot several times and fell into a pool of blood.

On the 19th anniversary of Ying’s sacrifice in the 1950s, Comrade Zhou Enlai wrote an inscription: “The leader loved by Chinese youth——Comrade Yun Daiying has sacrificed for 19 years. His proletarian consciousness, work enthusiasm, strong will, simple style, sacrifice spirit, and mass-oriented quality , touching and persuasive, should always be a model for Chinese revolutionary youth.” In 1953, Comrade Zhou Enlai transcribed Dai Ying’s “Poems in Prison”.
