On April 20, 2006, Cong Fei, who had selflessly helped 183 impoverished children, died of advanced gastric cancer at the age of 37.At the last moment of his life, he did not forget to contribute to the society by donating his cornea, which brought light to 6 patients with eye diseases.Cong Fei used his short life to compose a moving movement of helping others and selfless dedication. He was rated as a national moral model, and was awarded honorary titles such as "The Person Who Touches Me the Most" among national teenagers, the China Youth Volunteer Service Gold Award, and the first China Charity Award.

According to Cong Fei's mother, Li Caifeng, many villagers in Dawa County, Panjin City, Liaoning Province still remember "Da Chong" (Cong Fei's nickname) who the Zhang family loved to sing. "Sometimes when I go home, I seem to see people sitting on the kang of our house, and Da Chong sings with a broom as a microphone." Sitting in the boiling water room of the hospital, Li Caifeng told reporters, "Cong Fei has liked "Sing", but unlike his father who loves to sing Northeast Errenzhuan, he loves to learn episodes of TV series. He can remember "Fearless" and "Shanghai Bund" after listening to it once or twice, and the folks all say that he sings well.

Li Caifeng said that the couple didn't pay much attention to their son's hobby, "We hope he can do something else and find a formal job."Later, Cong Fei found a job in a local bank, and counted money "extremely".But in the end, he still wanted to enter the conservatory of music. "Children are not easy." After a period of hard study, Cong Fei was admitted to the Shenyang Conservatory of Music. Cong Fei went to the south after graduating from Shenyang Conservatory of Music. When he was in Guangzhou, a person discovered that Cong Fei could sing and perform, so he took Cong Fei to perform and make money. In the end, that person took Cong Fei to Shenzhen for a large-scale performance and made a lot of money at once, but the person took the money and slipped away.Cong Fei once again fell into a penniless situation, and his life fell into difficulties again. Once he walked back to the city from Bao'an Airport.

Since then, Cong Fei began to perform in various karaoke halls. At first, it cost 80 yuan to sing a song, and then it gradually increased to several hundred yuan.Later, Cong Fei performed more and more performances, and the appearance fee has risen to 10,000 yuan. However, Cong Fei's real commercial performances in Shenzhen are not many. In 1994, it started with a charity performance for out-of-school children in Chongqing to return to school. It was in that performance that hundreds of children who dropped out of school due to poverty were in the auditorium. Cong Fei thought of his childhood. At that time, he took out 2,400 yuan to help 20 children complete their studies for two years. .Since then, Cong Fei has continued to support out-of-school children in impoverished mountainous areas, and has performed charity performances in impoverished mountainous areas such as Guizhou, Hunan, and Sichuan for more than 20 times, and adopted orphans.

Cong Fei’s wife, Xing Dan, said: “His support beyond his own ability is exaggerated in the eyes of others, but in my opinion, it is very natural. His character is like this, and he can’t see others suffering. Don’t mention these poor mountainous children. It’s just an ordinary friend, as long as you ask him for help with soft words, no matter if it’s money or something, he will deal with it as a matter, and he doesn’t know how to reject others. This is his strength, but it is also his weakness.” Said Here, Xing Dan bowed his head for a while, rubbed his waist with his left hand, as if he was tired because of his swollen abdomen, then raised his head and said with a smile: "He can do whatever he wants, as long as he is happy. As for money, it depends on his family background." It’s not so bad that I can’t afford to eat, so if I can help, I’ll do it, and for myself, I can spend enough.”

At 20:40 on April 20, 2006, Cong Fei passed away at the Shenzhen People's Hospital due to illness and treatment. From the first sight of the out-of-school children to the time before he was favored by the god of death, he gave almost all his time to those children in need, without any reservation, even at the expense of life.He used to use the stage to build classrooms and sing to light up hope. His loud singing voice and selfless love won the most respectful applause.
