Memoirs of Peiqi Gerrard 葛佩琦 3249Words 2018-03-16
I stayed in the staff office for more than a month, read the relevant documents instigating the traitor troops to fight back, and learned about the designation, name of the chief officer, deployment, equipment, and strength of the puppet army stationed in the East of Henan. In mid-August, the Chief of Staff transferred an order from Director Cheng Qian to appoint me as "Special Commissioner for Tianshui Camp in Eastern Henan".The task is to instigate the traitor force anyway. Then the Chief of Staff came to talk to me.He said: "Song Kebin betrayed the country and surrendered to the enemy. Director Cheng was very angry. You were ordered to go east. The task is heavy. You must be careful and work hard to complete the task. If you have any difficulties, you can tell me. If necessary, I can call the front troops to support you. .”

After receiving the order, I am ready to go.The camp sent me three liaison staff officers and a radio station (that is, a communication squad). At the beginning of September, we set off from Xi'an, passed through Lantian, Nanyang, Zhoujiakou and other places, and arrived at Jieshou. For the convenience of work, I installed the radio station in Qiuquji, Luyi County, north of the Yellow Flooding Area, and I also live here. In order to find out the situation of the traitor troops, I sent the liaison staff officers of the three provinces to Kaifeng, Shangqiu, and Xuzhou respectively; I also entered Shangqiu City in disguise. After reconnaissance, I learned that after Song Kebin surrendered to the enemy, he was organized into the Third Division of the First Army of the Puppet Peace and National Salvation Army.Song served as the division commander, Cai Hongfan served as the deputy division commander, and the troops were stationed in Majiu, 30 stars east of Shangqiu.I also learned that Yuan Tianzhu, the sixth guerrilla detachment I organized when I was fighting guerrillas, defected to the enemy before going to Hebei; it was organized as the independent regiment of the First Army of the Puppet Peace and National Salvation Army, stationed in Matouji, south of Shangqiu.Qi Yuqin, the master of Yuan Tianzhu's Youth Gang, is an old friend of mine. He is currently the magistrate of Xiayi County of the Kuomintang. He often comes to the Qiuquji Commissioner's Office to do business.According to the work method of breaking through one point and advancing step by step, I decided: I will start with Yuan Tianzhu's department, which has the conditions and is easy to succeed, in my work of instigating rebellion. To instigate rebellion against Yuan Tianzhu, Qi Yuqin must be persuaded first.

Qi Yuqin was the first team leader when we organized the anti-Japanese guerrilla in eastern Henan. He once led the team to pull out the Japanese stronghold of Liudiquan.Once he came to Qiuquji to do business. When I invited him to my office for dinner, I deliberately said: Some of our guerrilla fighters became traitors, but you are spotless and persist in the war of resistance. You are really a patriot. He said: I, Qi Yuqin, am a Chinese. Even with a knife on my neck, I will not surrender to Japan, nor will I be a traitor.I said: good!it is good! Now that you are the magistrate of Xiayi County, you must not only take good care of yourself, but also take good care of others; your great apprentice Yuan Tianzhu led his troops to become traitors and is stationed at the junction of Shangqiu and Xiayi, you should try to lure him over.Qi Yuqin said: Tianzhu now has more than 2,000 people with guns. My county government is too small to accommodate him.I said: As long as you can bring Sheng Tianzhu over, I can apply for Tianshui Camp and give him a new number, and his position will never be lower than it is now.Qi Yuqin said in surprise: Really?I said: This is a major event related to the war of resistance and national salvation, how can I tell lies!I showed him the order from the Tianshui camp to instigate rebellion against the puppet army and how to reward traitors anyway.Qi Yuqin patted me on the shoulder and said, "Pei Qi, I will definitely try to complete this task."

About a month later, County Magistrate Qi came to my office and said that he met Yuan Tianzhu and discussed the issue anyway. After several discussions, Yuan Tianzhu expressed that he fully believed in Chief Ge (as he was called when fighting guerrillas), but there were some specifics. The problem needs to be studied face to face, and Yuan Tianzhu hopes to talk to you.I said: yes.A few days later, I changed into plain clothes and set off on a bicycle with County Magistrate Qi to a village in Xiayi County (the enemy-puppet ruled area). In the evening, Yuan Tianzhu came to see old friends, and he expressed his kindness. He put forward three requirements: (1) You can give him any name, but the establishment cannot be smaller than the regiment level, because the establishment is small, and it is difficult to arrange personnel; (3) The national army (referring to the anti-war troops) must be used as cover when launching the anti-war to prevent the Japanese army from pursuing.

I said that these three guarantees can be achieved.Yuan Tianzhu went back that night. The next morning I went to the seat of Xiayi County Government and stayed there for two days.County Magistrate Qi and I initially discussed the plan of action anyway. Back at Qiuquji, I telegraphed the three requests from Yuan Tianzhu to Tianshui Camp.On the third day, I received a reply from Director Cheng Qian: the first and second two were approved, and the third had been telegraphed to Commander He Zhuguo (at that time He was the commander of the Second Cavalry Army, stationed in Shenqiu, and sent troops to cover at that time. On the one hand, I sent someone to send this telegram to County Magistrate Qi, asking him to forward it to Yuan Tianzhu; and asked Yuan Tianzhu to decide on an exact time to launch the rebellion, and send someone to come to Qiuqu to report to me. On the other hand, I went to Shenqiu Contact He Zhuguo. Commander He said that he has received a telegram from Director Cheng, and has decided to send Commander Xu Chunfang to Baimayi, Luyi County, and then lead the cavalry to cover. He wrote a letter and asked me to take it to Commander Xu About 10 days after I returned to Qiuquji, Yuan Tianzhu sent a staff officer to send the exact time to launch the rebellion.

I took Commander He's letter to see Commander Xu, and told Commander Xu the current location of Yuan Tianzhu's troops, the time when the countermeasures were launched, and the meeting place where they arrived after the countermeasures. He said: I must carry out the task according to the order. After returning to Qiuquji, I wrote a letter, telling Yuan Tianzhu the "password" when he passed the front line at the rendezvous point at the back anyway; Bike to notify me.I handed over the letter to the staff officer sent by Yuan Tianzhu, and asked him to go back quickly and hand over the letter to Yuan's "regimental commander" for personal opening, without any mistakes.

The day before Yuan Tianzhu launched the rebellion, I received a letter from Qi Yuqin sent by a special person. It said: Yuan Tianzhu decided to launch according to the original schedule, and must make all preparations. After receiving the letter, I immediately told Yuan Tianzhu the "password" to pass through the front line, and told Wang Shouwu, the commissioner and security commander of East Henan who lived in Qiuquji, to pass it on to the front line troops to avoid misunderstandings. On the night of February 7, 1940 (Lunar New Year's Eve), Yuan Tianzhu led his troops to the gathering place I designated (a village north of Qiuquji) in any case.I immediately sent a telegram to Director Cheng Qian of Tianshui Camp.Soon after, I received a reply from Director Cheng: "Appoint Yuan Tianzhu as the commander of the 28th guerrilla detachment in the first district."I also sent a telegram to praise all the officers and soldiers for their patriotic actions and gave them large bonuses; I was also praised and rewarded by Director Cheng Qian.

Now let's talk about my instigation of Song Kebin's department anyway. In the winter of 1939, I asked someone to bring a letter to Cai Hongfan, deputy commander of the Third Division of the First Army of the Puppet Peace and National Salvation Army, urging him to lead his troops to fight back as soon as possible. He sent me a reply. It said: He will never be reconciled to being a traitor, but at present there are various difficulties and he cannot mobilize anyway. Cai Hongfan heard that Yuan Tianzhu's department was organized by me anyway. In April 1940, he sent someone to Qiuquji to take me to his hometown, Yucheng County, for a talk. Before I left, I went to Shenqiu County to meet with Army Commander He Zhuguo. When I told him that Cai Hongfan had sent someone to pick me up.He Zhuguo also told me about the situation of the other two division commanders (Cao Dazhong and Li Zhongyi) who were instigating against the first army of the Puppet Peace and National Salvation Army.He also said that it would be best if the three false division commanders could be launched at the same time anyway.

After I returned to Qiuquji, I went north with the people sent by Cai Hongfan, passed the blockade line laid by the Japanese army along the Longhai Railway, and arrived at Yucheng County. As soon as Cai Hongfan and I met, he joked: In Hebei, you ran away and did not follow us to be a traitor; today you will be detained here as a traitor. I said, are you detaining me here as a traitor?Or should I pull you over to fight the war?Let's go and see!he laughed. Cai Hongfan said: This time Zixian (Song Kebin's characters) asked me to invite you here. He was afraid that the Japanese spies would find out, so he invited you to my house for a talk.He went on to say: Zixian and I are unwilling to be traitors; because the Japanese army raided in Hebei and suffered heavy losses. battlefield.

I said, can Zixian agree? Cai Hongfan said: Zixian agreed to pull him over; but he has two concerns, (1) he was promoted by General Cheng Qian, and became a traitor halfway through, he was afraid that after being pulled over, Cheng Qian would not trust him and would not let him (2) The third division was stationed in Mamuji, only 30 miles away from the Japanese army in Shangqiu, and 200 miles away from the anti-Japanese troops. I said, the "Regulations on Instigation of Rebellion" stipulates that the army will not replace the chief officer or transfer soldiers anyway. If you pull it over, Zixian can still be the division commander; Anyway, I can contact Commander He and send cavalry to cover you.

Finally, I said to Cai Hongfan: Please tell Zixian that if you want to do it anyway, make up your mind quickly; otherwise, I’m afraid you will fall behind others. But I didn't tell him about Cao Dazhong and Li Zhongyi.Cai Hongfan and I agreed on a communication method, so we said goodbye. Back at Qiuquji, I telegraphed the above situation to the Tianshui Camp, and Director Cheng replied: Tell Song and Cai, dispel your worries, start it as soon as possible, and reward those who have meritorious service.I sent someone to send this telegram to Cai Hongfan. In early July, I received a letter sent by Cai Hongfan. It said: The southward transfer work is ready, and it can be acted upon receiving the order of Director Cheng.I sent an urgent telegram to Tianshui Camp.Director Cheng Qian replied: The work of instigating rebellion can be carried out in cooperation with Commander He Zhuguo. He Zhizhao has been called. After receiving the telegram, my thoughts fluctuated a little. I made a special trip to Luoyang to report the above situation to Comrade Liu Zijiu and ask for his opinion.Comrade Liu Zijiu said: You cooperated with He Zhuguo to instigate traitor troops anyway, which is in line with the anti-Japanese national united front policy and is conducive to the war of resistance; your idea of pulling Song Kebin to the New Fourth Army is unlikely to succeed. When I came back from Luoyang, I went to Shenqiu to meet He Zhuguo, and told him about my instigating Master Song Kebin to work anyway. He said that the work of mobilizing the two divisions of Cao Dazhong and Li Zhongyi went smoothly. He was going to report the situation of the three puppet military divisions to the Military Commission (referring to the Kuomintang Military Commission), and to apply for the designation and establishment for them.He said: The Military Commission has called to instruct Cao Dazhong, Li Zhongyi, and Song Kebin to form the New Seventh Army after they lead their troops to fight back. The three of them will still serve as division commanders. He Zhuguo and I researched and decided to launch three puppet military divisions. At the same time, He Zhuguo will be in charge of the plan anyway. One day in late October 1940, three puppet military divisions launched their counterattacks at the same time and arrived at the designated assembly point. Our plan to instigate the counter-revolution of the puppet army in eastern Henan has been successfully completed!Severely weakened Japan's ruling power in eastern Henan.
