Before we arrived in Nanjing, some Pingjin students had already fled to Nanjing, and in mid-August, the "Nanjing Pingjin Exile Alumni Association (hereinafter referred to as Pingjin Alumni Association)" was established.More and more Pingjin students went into exile in Nanjing. After we arrived in Nanjing, the Pingjin Alumni Association re-elected.Elected as executive committee members are: Wang Wenbin, Zheng Daigong, Ding Xiu, He Li, Liu Yuzhu, Ge Peiqi, Xie Yunhui, Wu Chengming, Zhao Qihai and other students. The vast majority of executive committee members are members of the Communist Party and pioneers of the People's Republic of China.Although the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party had been established at that time, the Kuomintang still insisted on a one-sided war of resistance and did not dare to mobilize the people to carry out a comprehensive war of resistance.

In order to develop the anti-Japanese national united front, promote the Kuomintang to implement an all-out war of resistance, and require the central government of the Kuomintang to assign exiled students from Pingjin to the front line to participate in the work of the war of resistance. The Pingjin Alumni Association sent He Li, Wu Chengming and Ge Peiqi as representatives to visit the Kuomintang Central Political Committee Chairman Wang Jingwei, Central Party Secretary Ye Chucang, Central Propaganda Minister Shao Lizi, Education Minister Wang Shijie, Chen Lifu, Minister of the Sixth Department of the Military Commission, and other party and government dignitaries.

The Jiang and Wang factions both wanted to compete for our Pingjin students and use them; but no one agreed to assign us to work on the front line. After negotiations, the Ministry of Education of the Nanjing government arranged board and lodging for our group of Pingjin students. Girls lived in Nanjing Municipal No. 1 Middle School, and boys lived in Municipal No. 2 and No. 8 Middle Schools. For exiled students who are willing to go home or go back to school, the Ministry of Education will issue travel tickets and two yuan pocket money.Wang Jingwei's wife gave each of 500 vests, underpants, toothbrushes, tooth bowls, towels, and washbasins to the classmate association. We transferred these things to the wounded soldiers' hospital and comforted the wounded soldiers.

Here I will talk about my visit to Wang Jingwei.Wang Jingwei lived in Xiaolingwei, Nanjing.About half a mile away from his residence, the first guard line was set up; his gate was heavily guarded. He Li, Wu Chengming and I visited Wang Jingwei for the first time. When we reached the first guard line, we were blocked by sentries. We took out a letter from the Pingjin Alumni Association, stating that we were students from Peiping. The sentinel sized us up with vigilance, and said: No one is allowed to pass, no one can pass without the certification documents of the party and government organs. We returned disappointed. The next day, the three of us put on our suits, boarded a rented car, and visited Wang Jingwei again. When the car arrived at the first guard line, the sentry not only did not interrogate, but ordered a "stand at attention", and we passed. The car arrived at the gate of Wang Jingwei, and the guards politely led us to the reception room.

We explain our purpose to the receptionist. The reception staff said: Chairman Wang has been on a "business trip".We handed over the letter written by the Pingjin Alumni Association to Wang Jingwei and the "Shanghai Government Opinion Letter" to the reception staff. He said: It must be presented to Chairman Wang. After a few days, the Pingjin Student Association received a reply letter from Wang Jingwei, the general idea is as follows: Pingjin Alumni Association Gongjian: Violent enemies raged, Pingjin fell, and the great mountains and rivers were ravaged (the above is the original text).Dear students, you are very patriotic and have come to Beijing to ask for help.Zhao Ming (Wang Jingwei's name) exhibited the large letter and admired him infinitely. Please send a representative to the Central Political Committee on August () ().Wang Zhaoming (signature)

Eight or nine of our executive committee members represented the Pingjin Alumni Association and went there according to the agreed time.Wang Jingwei personally received us.Ask about the cold and warm, with a pleasant smile.Ask what difficulties we have? What's your opinion?Let's talk casually, without restraint. We propose: (1) To mobilize the masses and unite all parties and factions to carry out a comprehensive war of resistance. He said: The national government (National Government) has issued a mobilization order. Once the war starts, there will be no distinction between north and south, and no distinction between old and young. Everyone has the obligation to participate in the war of resistance. (2) We propose that there are still a large number of patriotic students in Pingjin, Shandong and other occupied areas, and the government should try to support their withdrawal. He said: The government already has this plan. (3) We propose that the institutions of higher learning withdrawn from the occupied areas should be restored quickly so that the majority of students can go back to school. He said that the government is already handling it. (4) We proposed: Please support the students in exile to participate in the anti-Japanese and national salvation work, and hope to assign our Pingjin students to work on the front line.He said: You are all college students, you are the pillars of the country, how can you easily go to the front line to die; as for participating in the anti-Japanese and national salvation work, you have complete freedom, and I support you. Finally, Wang Jingwei said: Your opinions are very good, I will convey them to Chiang Kai-shek.Later facts proved that what Wang Jingwei said was completely a set of deceitful words by traitors and politicians.Less than two months after he met us, we were arrested by the Nanjing Gendarmerie Headquarters of the Kuomintang on the charge of "provoking students".This is Wang Jingwei's "support" for us.

In addition to interviewing some dignitaries of the Kuomintang, we also interviewed some social celebrities and progressive figures on behalf of the Pingjin Alumni Association, such as Zhang Shenfu, Shen Junru, and Zhang Ximan of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association. They sympathized with and supported our call for an all-out war of resistance. In mid-August 1937, the Nanjing Office of the Eighth Route Army was established. The address is at No. 66, Fuhougang, Nanjing (now No. 41, Qingyun Lane). The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China appointed Comrade Ye Jianying, chief of staff of the Eighth Route Army, as the representative of the Eighth Route Army in Nanjing, Comrade Li Kenong as the director of the Nanjing Office of the Eighth Route Army, and Comrade Bogu (Qin Bangxian), Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, as the representative of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Nanjing. Therefore, the Nanjing Office of the Eighth Route Army at that time was not only the office of our army stationed in Nanjing, but also the representative organization of our party stationed in Nanzong.

Li Hua (Comrade Li Chengru, the former Secretary of the Underground District Committee of our Party in Xicheng District, Beiping City, came to Nanjing with Pingjin students. He contacted the underground members of our Party in the Pingjin Alumni Association and established an underground party organization. Jiang Nanxiang, Comrade Li Hua and Bogu The comrades met and connected with the organization. Comrade Bogu appointed Li Hua to set up the Nanjing Municipal Committee of our party, with Li Hua as the secretary, and Xin (Ma Ziqing, and Fang Kede) as members. In the Pingjin Student Association, a three-party committee consisting of Wang Wenbin, He Li, and Zheng Daigong was established. The party group composed of people was directly under the leadership of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee of our party. At that time, there were about 20 or 30 underground party members who had organized connections in the Pingjin Alumni Association. Based on the pioneers in the Nanjing Pingjin Alumni Association, the People’s Pioneers Nanjing The local team headquarters, led by Comrade Ding Xiu as the captain, leads the People's Pioneers in Nanjing.

Under the leadership of the underground organization of our party, the Nanjing Pingjin Alumni Association organized students in exile and did a lot of work that was beneficial to the War of Resistance: (1) Organize field rescue teams to rescue wounded soldiers on the front line.At that time, the Chinese and Japanese armies were fighting fiercely in Shanghai, and there were a large number of wounded soldiers without rescue.I contacted General Zhu Ziqiao (he is the president of the National Relief Association) who was in charge of rescuing the wounded. He said: On the front line of Kunshan, there are a large number of seriously wounded soldiers who are concentrated at the train station and cannot be sent out.He asked: Can you Pingjin students take on this rescue mission?I said: As long as we have transportation, we can complete this task.General Zhu wrote a letter of introduction. Our field ambulance team, with a letter of introduction, contacted the Pukou Wounded Soldiers' Shelter, took a stretcher, boarded the train, and arrived at the train station near Kunshan, carried a large number of wounded soldiers off the fire line to the train, and transported them to the rear , sent to the hospital. Some students are still in the wounded soldiers hospital, serving the wounded soldiers.

(2) Organize propaganda groups to expand anti-Japanese and national salvation propaganda.Organized 3 publicity groups: "Pingjin Alumni Association Singing Troupe" organized by Zheng Xun, Zhao Qihai and other students, went to Nanjing Central Radio Station to sing "March of the Volunteers", "March of Salvation", "Trilogy of Exile" and other national salvation The song inspired the enthusiasm of the people of Nanjing to resist Japanese aggression and save the nation.Organized by Rong Qianxiang (Rong Gaotang), Zhang Ruifang, Miao Peishi, Chen Huangmei, Zhang Nan and other students, the "Pingjin Student Field Mobile Propaganda Group" went north along Jinpu Road, turned to Longhai Road and Pinghan Road to Zhumadian.Anti-Japanese songs spread throughout the Central Plains. The "Capital Pingjin Students Anti-Japanese and National Salvation Propaganda Group" led by the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, attended by classmates Ye Dulian (Ye Fang), Dong Lingyun, Hu Duhong, Li Geng, etc. from Pingjin, went all over the industrial, mining and rural areas in the north and south of the river, as far as Wuhan, to promote the unity of the anti-Japanese nation The front and the Ten Programs of Resisting Japan and Saving the Nation inspired the determination of the broad masses of workers and peasants to resist Japan.

(3) Carried out the anti-Japanese national united front work.In addition to sending representatives from the Pingjin Alumni Association to visit the top figures of the Kuomintang and promote the Kuomintang to carry out an all-out war of resistance, we also got in touch with the Nanjing Secret Student Federation and sent representatives to Jinling University, Central University, Zhongying Middle School and other universities and middle schools to jointly carry out Anti-Japanese national salvation activities.During the activities to commemorate the sixth anniversary of "September 18th" in Nanjing, the parade of the Pingjin Alumni Association shouted anti-Japanese slogans and sang national salvation songs. Four people lined up, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm, marching neatly, majestic and majestic , Inspired the anti-Japanese sentiment of the people of Nanjing. The street drama "Put Down Your Whip" performed by Zhang Ruifang and other students on the side of the road, and "Fight the Devils" and "Fight Back to the Hometown" performed at the Nanjing Grand Theater aroused the hatred of the Japanese invaders among the masses in Nanjing! (4) Sending a large number of young students to the rear and Yan'an.With the expansion of the Sino-Japanese War, the exiled students who came to Nanjing Pingjin Alumni Association included not only students from Peiping and Tianjin, but also students from Hebei, Shandong, Shanghai, Kowloon and Guangdong. At that time, Japanese planes bombed Nanjing every day. For the sake of safety, the Pingjin Student Association set up a welcome and delivery team to be responsible for welcoming and sending them off.Comers are not rejected, and board and lodging will be arranged for him (her). Those who go will not stay, and will be issued with travel tickets, pocket money and a certificate of passage. The destination to go to is free to choose.Within a few months, the Pingjin Alumni Association sent more than 10,000 young students across the country. Some of them went to the enemy's rear, pulled up local armed forces, organized anti-Japanese guerrillas, and established anti-Japanese base areas, making the flowers of the "12.9" anti-Japanese student movement bear fruitful results of the war of resistance; some went to the rear to study, Now they have become experts and scholars, and are the backbone of the construction of the four modernizations; some went to Yan'an to study, and now they have become senior cadres of the party and the country.Looking back on the present and thinking about the past, I feel very cordial.
