Chapter 39 038. Moving to the Northeast to Offer Loyalty——Record of Wei Zhengmin, Secretary of the Southern Manchurian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China

Wei Zhengmin, formerly known as Guan Youwei, styled Bo Zhang. Born in February 1909 in Wang Village, Tunliu County, Shanxi Province. He was admitted to the county high school at the age of 13, Taiyuan No. 1 Middle School at the age of 16, and the private Hongda College in Beiping in the summer of 1928.He joined the Communist Party of China in January 1928 and propagated revolutionary ideas among students in accordance with the requirements of the party organization. After the "September 18th" Incident in 1931, the Communist Party called on the soldiers and civilians in Northeast China to resolutely resist Japan, regain lost ground, and save the country and itself. At the same time, a group of outstanding party members were selected to work in the Northeast, and Wei Zhengmin was one of them.

Wei Zhengmin first worked in the Liaoning People's Self-Defense Force, and then went to Harbin to serve as the head of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Daowai District Party Committee and Secretary of the Harbin Municipal Party Committee. Two years later, in the twelfth lunar month, he was ordered to serve as a leader in the guerrilla zone in East Manchuria. Dongman, at that time, referred to the counties of Yanji, Wangqing, Helong, Hunchun, and Antu. It was a place where the Korean ethnic group lived together. The party had a good foundation and was one of the earliest anti-Japanese base areas established by the party in the Northeast. When Wei Zhengmin arrived in Dongman, in accordance with the principles and policies formulated by the Party Central Committee, he united the masses of all ethnic groups, developed party organizations, and publicized the anti-Japanese national united front. The anti-Japanese struggle in East Manchuria set off a new upsurge. In May 1935, the Second Army of the People's Revolutionary Army was formally established, with Wang Detai as the commander and Wei Zhengmin as the secretary of the East Manchurian Special Committee and the military and political commissar. In May 1935, he went to Moscow to attend the Seventh Congress of the Communist International, and returned to China in February of the following year.

In late June 1936, Wei Zhengmin met Yang Jingyu, commander and political commissar of the First Army, in Huijiagou, Heli, Jinchuan County.Yang Jingyu and Wei Zhengmin co-chaired a meeting of senior cadres of the First and Second Armies and the Eastern and Southern Manchurian Party, namely the Heli Meeting.According to the actual situation that the first and second armies have joined together in one area, it was decided to combine the first and second armies into the First Route Army of the Anti-Union Army, and the Eastern Manchurian and Southern Manchurian party organizations combined to form a Southern Manchurian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China to unify command and control. Leading the work of the First and Second Armies and the Party in Southeast Manchuria.Yang Jingyu served as the commander-in-chief of the First Route Army, Wang Detai served as the deputy commander, and Wei Zhengmin served as the secretary of the provincial party committee. After the two main forces of the First and Second Armies of the Anti-Japanese Alliance were combined, their prestige was greatly shaken, and the anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare in the East and South Manchuria areas achieved unprecedented development.

In order to cooperate with Yang Jingyu's southward advance and the first army's westward expedition, Wei Zhengmin, together with Wang Detai, commanded the fourth and sixth divisions of the second army (formerly the first and third divisions) and the second division of the first army, and violently attacked the enemy in the Changbai Mountain area. In August, they attacked Fusong County and wiped out more than 100 Japanese troops; in September, they wiped out more than 150 puppet Jingan troops in Xiaotanghe; in October, they wiped out more than 100 Japanese troops in Dongqinggou, Dunhua. In Fusong, Changbai and other counties, county committees and various anti-Japanese mass organizations were established, and the number of troops increased rapidly. The Second Army alone increased the strength of three regiments.

In the winter of 1936, Wang Detai, the commander of the Second Army, died, and the military and political leadership tasks of the Second Army fell on Wei Zhengmin's shoulders. He led the second, fourth, and sixth divisions to fight in Fusong, Jiang, Huinan, Panshi, Huadian, Dunhua, Antu, Linjiang, and Changbai counties, attacking towns and strongholds, ambush "crusade teams", and dealt heavy blows. the Japanese invaders. In late March 1937, Wei Zhengmin presided over a meeting of leaders and cadres of the second, fourth, and sixth divisions in the secret camp of Yangmutingzi, Xigang, Fusong County. He determined the direction of the troops' activities in 1937, and proposed to pull out the Japanese and puppet troops in the army. The stronghold at Miaoling during the "crusade" in the winter of 1936.

Miaoling is the traffic hub of the three counties of Fusong, Linjiang, and Jiang. A battalion of the puppet army was stationed for a long time, and the activities of the anti-Japanese troops were a great threat.Wei Zhengmin selected two soldiers to break into the enemy's stronghold as internal responses. In more than two months, these two fighters won more than 10 patriotic officers and soldiers through "worshiping the handle" and other methods. In the first ten days of June, Wei Zhengmin led a teaching group to surround the enemy. With the cooperation of the dispatched internal staff, after a short battle, more than 150 officers and soldiers below the puppet battalion commander were all disarmed, and a total of 1 mortar and 1 heavy machine gun were seized. , 3 light machine guns, more than 120 rifles, more than 10 short guns, tens of thousands of bullets and a large amount of military supplies completely destroyed the enemy's stronghold.

On July 7, 1937, the national war of resistance broke out.The Northeast Anti-Japanese Alliance published the "Report to the Northeast Compatriots in Response to the Sino-Japanese War" drafted by Wei Zhengmin, calling on the people of the Northeast to unite with the people of the whole country to fight against Japan together. In order to contain the Japanese troops and cooperate with the national war of resistance, Wei Zhengmin commanded the Second Army of the Anti-Union Army to launch a fierce attack on the Japanese troops in Jiang, Huadian, Linjiang and other places. The battle against Huinan County was an important battle.

Huinan County is an important supply base for the Japanese army. In the middle of the night on October 18, Wei Zhengmin commanded troops to approach the city gate covertly, disarmed the enemy sentry at the south gate by means of a sneak attack, and launched a surprise attack on the enemy inside the city. The Japanese and puppet troops rushed to the battle, and more than 20 were killed at that time, and the rest were trapped in the barracks and could not get out.At this time, Wei Zhengmin commanded the troops to quickly open the warehouse, shipped out a large amount of supplies, and distributed the "Letter to the Peasants" and the "Letter to the Puppet Army", and then successfully withdrew from the city.

From May 11th to June 1st, 1938, under the auspices of Wei Zhengmin and Yang Jingyu, a joint meeting of senior cadres of the Nanman Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the First Route Army of the Anti-Japanese Army (the Laoling meeting) was held to analyze the situation. Summarized the experience and lessons of the struggle against the enemy, and determined the strategic policy of "preserving strength and smashing the enemy's attack in order to cooperate with the national war of resistance in the guerrilla warfare against Japanese imperialism."The meeting decided that Wei Zhengmin would also serve as deputy commander of the First Route Army and director of the Political Department.

After the Laoling meeting, Wei Zhengmin cooperated with Yang Jingyu to command the troops and wiped out more than 140 people from two companies of the 32nd Regiment of the Suo Brigade of the Puppet Army.Afterwards, he led his troops into Antu County, cleverly implemented the strategy of "tuning the tiger away from the mountain", captured Dashahe Town, and drew out the two enemies from Antu County and Mingyuegou. Miyamoto's "crusade team".Then, 5 kilometers south of the big sauce tank, they ambushed again and wiped out more than 150 Japanese troops who came out of Antu.During the service, more than 500 enemies were killed, wounded and captured, more than 10 vehicles were destroyed, 7 light machine guns and more than 300 rifles were seized. In September, Wei Zhengmin and Chen Hanzhang led their troops to destroy another 11 enemy vehicles during the ambush in Hancongling, Dunhua County, and killed more than 100 people under Major General Matsushima, the commander of the "crusade team" stationed by the Japanese invaders in Dunhua, and seized a large number of weapons, such as light and heavy machine guns, supplies. These victories have strengthened the prestige of the Anti-Japanese Alliance and made the enemy terrified.

After Yang Jingyu died in February 1940, the burden fell on Wei Zhengmin's shoulders. He lived and fought hard for a long time, and his body suffered great damage. His stomach disease became more and more serious, and he suffered from heart disease. In addition, the army lacked food and medicine, and his condition worsened.Seeing his weakening body, his comrades made a stretcher for him, but he refused to sit on it; everyone gave him the captured horses to ride, and he often gave them to the wounded and sick, walking in the middle of the team with a wooden stick. In the winter of 1940, Wei Zhengmin's condition became more serious, and he could no longer lead the team to go out, so he had to stay in the secret camp, but he still worked hard. The guards and other comrades sometimes hid his paper and pen, and he said sincerely to everyone: "Time is too precious to me, please give me the paper and pen, I can't stop working." Due to the enemy's blockade, The person who delivered the food hadn’t entered the mountain for more than a month, and the comrades had to boil the bark for Wei Zhengmin to eat. One day, two days, one week, two weeks... The bark near the secret camp was stripped off, and Wei Zhengmin’s condition continued to deteriorate. , But still no one came down the mountain, expectations turned into disappointment, and comrades were anxious.Wei Zhengmin calmly analyzed the situation and said to everyone: "The enemy's blockade of the mountainous area is getting tighter and tighter. The local comrades must have encountered great difficulties. As long as there is a way, they will not forget us." It turned out that Chen Deshou, an anti-Japanese old man who lived in Jiapigou, had been risking his life to cleverly send food and necessary daily necessities to Wei Zhengmin, as well as intelligence on the enemy's movements. At the beginning of 1941, Chen Deshou was caught by the enemy just as he was about to leave the village with grain. Under the torture of the enemy, the old man refused to admit his relationship with the Anti-Japanese League.Avoiding the enemy's surveillance, the old man climbed out of the water hole under the wall and braved the heavy snow to send corn, millet, and matches.Seeing that Wei Zhengmin was so ill that he couldn't stand up, and that the bark was boiled in the pot, the old man said sadly, "Deputy Commander, you have suffered a lot these days." Wei Zhengmin comforted the old man and said, "Don't be sad, the revolution is hard. This bit of suffering is nothing. Don't look at the enemy's fierce disturbance, we will persist in fighting, and one day we will drive them out of China..." On the morning of March 8, 1941, Wei Zhengmin woke up from a coma.He felt that the distance he could go was not long, so he handed over the document package to the guard with difficulty, and said with difficulty: "Be sure to hand over these documents to the Party Central Committee." After a while, he looked at the sunlight that came in, and again Looking at the comrades around him, he said: "You are all young, the revolution depends on you!... Don't be sad, the revolution is hard, and to defeat the enemy, you have to shed blood and die. But our blood will not be shed in vain, It's almost dawn, comrades must persevere in the struggle..." After finishing speaking, Wei Zhengmin stopped breathing.
