Chapter 15 014. Heroes spilled blood on Xizhou Village——Ding Silin, head of the New First Regiment of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army

During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army compiled and printed a "Biography of the Martyrs". In the preface, Master Liu Bocheng wrote: "The War of Resistance Against Japan has been going on for the third anniversary. In these three years, our 129th Division has gone through 3156 In this battle, 134,678 Japanese and puppet troops were wiped out and wounded... These achievements were exchanged for the blood and lives of our Communists and non-Party Bolsheviks. For example, our Comrade Ding Silin...etc, they are all Communists People, they sacrificed everything for the liberation of the Chinese nation. This spirit is only possessed by great revolutionaries, and with it, everything can be overcome..."

Ding Silin was born in Dingjiagang, Huang'an (now Hong'an) County, Hubei in April 1915.He joined the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in May 1932, and joined the Communist Party of China the following year.In the Red Army, he served successively as a soldier, squad and platoon company commander, regiment chief of staff, and regiment commander. He was good at commanding night battles, won many battles, was wounded six times, and never got off the line of fire. In August 1937, our party put the national justice first, and reorganized the main force of the Red Army in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region into the Eighth Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army. Battalion, he was changed from the head of the regiment to the commander of a battalion. On the anti-Japanese front line, whether it was Shentouling, Xiangtangpu, or Changle Village and other famous battles, he left his shining footprints.

On August 1, 1938, the 386th Brigade formed a new regiment. On September 3, Ding Silin took office as the head of the new regiment. In early February 1939, the Japanese invaders occupied Shulu, Julu, Guangzong, Weixian, Linqing, Wuyi and other towns, and continued to attack Jixian, Nangong, and Zaoqiang areas. The newly established base in southern Hebei was under attack from both sides. In order to smash the enemy's "mopping up", under the command of Brigadier Chen Geng, the 386th Brigade took advantage of the enemy's unstable foothold and repeatedly attacked Guangping, Feixiang, Quzhou, Jize, Weixian and other strongholds.

When attacking and harassing the enemy stationed in Quzhou, Ding Silin cleverly used "invisibility" and "disguise" to organize a new regiment of officers and soldiers to enter the city among the peasants who had left the city for farming. In the dead of night, they blew up the enemy's ammunition depot, burned the enemy's supplies, and threw grenades into the enemy's headquarters compound.Every time he took action, Ding Silin told the soldiers: "Take a notice and stick it under the nose of Little Japan, so that they can't eat well and sleep well." Regarding this, the devils were terrified all day long, and even dreamed of making a notice. The words: The Eighth Route Army will attack the city in the near future.

Most of the cadres and soldiers of the Xinyi Regiment are from southern Hebei, and they are very familiar with the local terrain, customs and customs. How could the enemy find out if they mixed in with the masses?According to this feature, Ding Silin mobilized soldiers for three consecutive nights to organize the surrounding masses, build up momentum, set up earthen guns and cannons, "boom on the ground" and so on, pretending to attack the city.At first, the enemies in the city always thought it was a small unit of the Eighth Route Army and ignored it.As a result, when they went to the city, they saw gunshots on all sides, so they dispatched the enemies of Qiucheng and Feixiang counties overnight to quickly reinforce them. The enemy came and went, and the Xinyi regiment was broken into pieces again, and became the people of the surrounding villages. In this way, the Japanese invaders couldn't move, couldn't sleep, and sometimes they couldn't even eat.The Japanese devils became angry and wanted to find the main force of the Eighth Route Army for a decisive battle.

Brigadier Chen Geng thought: The enemy has the characteristics of going out of the city to retaliate, and now the time is ripe to lure the enemy into an ambush position and annihilate them. Therefore, an ambush plan was drawn up to set up traps and lure wolves to Xiangchenggu, Quzhou County, and distributed it to all regiments. At the beginning of February, according to the unified deployment of the brigade, Ding Silin led the new regiment to continuously attack Weixian, Quzhou and other cities, killing and wounding the enemy with short-term firepower, and tried every means to lure the enemy out of the cage.

On February 10, the enraged enemies of Wei County fell into the trap. They dispatched a part of the 40th Regiment of the Tenth Division, dispatched 9 vehicles, and carried a reinforced infantry squadron to attack south of Wei County. At about 12 o'clock, this group of enemies entered the vicinity of Nancaochang and was suddenly attacked by the cavalry company that had ambushed there in advance. The cavalry company immediately retreated, the enemy pursued hotly, and its cars got into the "pocket" one after another. When all 9 vehicles of the Japanese army arrived at the ambush circle at the North Street entrance of Gu Village in Xiangcheng, the 688th Regiment ambushing there immediately dealt a head-on blow to the enemy and destroyed the first vehicle.Captain Yasuda of the Japanese army picked up his binoculars and found that there was no movement on the east, west, and north sides. Only the south side was blocking the attack, so he ordered the troops to break through. At this time, the Xinyi Regiment and the participating troops on the south and east sides opened fire together, violently blocking and flanking the enemy. The enemy turned around and fled towards Wei County.

This side is the entrance to the ambush circle, and the terrain is low, so it is impossible to build concealed fortifications in advance, and it is also impossible to set up an ambush in advance. The brigade headquarters ordered the new regiment to move north immediately to tie up the pocket.Ding Silin waved his hand and shouted: "Comrades, we must block the enemy and prevent any one from escaping!" The warriors of the whole regiment braved dense bullets, like tigers, rushed up the hill from the northwest, and shot fiercely at the enemy, cutting off the enemy's only way of retreat and surrounding them in a concave depression. The enemy has become "the turtle in the urn".

Most of the devil's cars got stuck in the sand, the wheels idling, getting deeper and deeper, unable to move forward; several cars that were able to drive were also damaged by cluster grenades commanded by Ding Silin.Captain Yasuda Squadron of the Japanese Army organized troops to attack the Xinyi regiment's position.Ding Silin encouraged everyone: "Calm down, people are winning! Resolutely destroy the enemy!" The new regiment was running out of bullets. At this time, hundreds of Japanese invaders rushed forward with bayonets in hand.Ding Silin ordered the soldiers to mount their bayonets, and shouted loudly: "Show out a little bit of murderous aura and create a new group of prestige! Let's fight!" He forced the enemy to leave more than 20 corpses and retreat.

From about 16:30 to the evening, the enemy launched 4 charges, but failed to move forward. The Japanese army dropped gas bombs on the Xinyi regiment, and many people were poisoned.Commander Ding Silin immediately organized the soldiers to throw cluster grenades at the poisonous gas, blowing up the poisonous gas, repelling another attack by the enemy, and firmly defending the position. At this time, the enemy is jumping around in the "pocket".The time is ripe for annihilation. As soon as the charge horn of the command post sounded, Ding Silin jumped out of the position first, and rushed towards the enemy with a bayonet in his hand.On the beach, there were corpses of devils and desperate howls everywhere, and destroyed cars were burning with fire.By 12 o'clock in the middle of the night, the Yasuda Squadron and the 40th Regiment Supplementary Battalion were all annihilated. A total of more than 250 officers and soldiers below the captain of the Yasuda Squadron were killed, 8 were captured alive, 9 cars were destroyed, 3 artillery pieces of various types were seized, and hundreds of long and short guns were captured. Yu Zhi, a batch of ammunition. Thus smashing the enemy's conspiracy to attack Nangong from east to west and destroy the base area in southern Hebei.

In this battle, the Xinyi Regiment was praised by Comrade Zhu De as the "Model Youth Regiment", and was later awarded the honorable title of "Zhu De Youth Regiment" by the Front Headquarters of the Eighth Route Army. At the beginning of July 1939, the enemy mobilized more than 50,000 people to carry out a large-scale "mopping up" of the Shanxi-Hebei-Henan area.In order to smash the enemy's attempt to divide and destroy the anti-Japanese base areas, Ding Silin led a new regiment to carry out continuous attacks on the enemy forces from Taigu to Fenshuiling in Shanxi Province. Huanggu Village in Taigu County was the general hub of transportation behind the enemy troops stationed in Taiyuan, and it was also the place where the senior advisers of the puppet army were trained. The enemy wrapped himself tightly in the small village with three barbed wire fences and three traffic ditches. At midnight on July 4th, the devils had already fallen asleep.Ding Silin whispered to the soldiers: "We want to wipe out all the enemies in Huanghang Village, and use our victory to commemorate the second anniversary of the 'July? Seven' Anti-Japanese War!" He commanded the commando to kill the enemy sentry first, and then quickly Crossed three barbed wire fences, jumped over three traffic ditches, and seized the enemy's two high-rise courtyards first. Ding Silin waved to the follow-up troops: "Come on!" Suddenly, gunshots rang out and grenades exploded in the dark room.Amidst the dense gunfire and explosions, the devils ran around barefoot. The fight ended cleanly. It took four to five days to sort out the seized documents alone.Ding Silin said excitedly: "Let the enemy know how powerful the Eighth Route Army is!" In fact, going deep into enemy-occupied areas to attack the enemy is a specialty of Ding Silin and Xinyituan, and the night attack on Huanghang was just one of them. On July 5, 1939, more than 3,000 people from the 107th Regiment of the 109th Division of the enemy invaded from the watershed of Nanguan and Laiyuan Town. The enemy met in Shipan Town that night and entered Yushe on the 6th Cloud Town. In order to deal a heavy blow to the enemy, on July 6, Ding Silin and the warriors of the new regiment attacked the clouds at night. The battle was launched at 23:00 that night. After the enemy was attacked, they counterattacked with all their strength, and on the 7th they fought fiercely with the Xinyi regiment in Xinzhuang, Gaozhuang, Taoyang, and Qiaojiagou near Yuncu. From 8:00 am to 12:00 am on the 8th, Ding Silin led a new regiment to fight fiercely with the enemy on the high mountain of Xizhou Village.Kill hundreds of enemies. The battle was about to end, and everyone asked: "Regimental Commander, you withdraw first this time, and we will cover!" Ding Silin glanced at him: "Old rules, you go down first, and Squad One and I stay behind to cover." At this moment, the Japanese army stormed up.He snatched the machine gun from the soldier, and said while shooting: "Hit hard, don't let the little devil take advantage of it!" The enemy was pushed back by the rain of bullets.Ding Silin's tall body stood up.At this moment, the enemy concentrated light machine guns and fired at him, a bullet hit his head, and the young Ding Silin fell into a pool of blood... In order to express his grief for Ding Silin, Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the political commissar of the 129th Division, wrote the article "Mourning Comrade Ding Silin".
