In April 1938, General Lei Zhong was transferred to the northern Anhui military liaison committee and deputy guerrilla commander, and continued to lead his troops to fight the Japanese army in northern Anhui, re-planning the Japanese army many times. In October 1938, the Japanese army concentrated its forces to fight with me on the front line of Huoqiu. General Lei went to the front line to command the troops to fight the enemy heroically. Unfortunately, he was hit by an enemy bullet and died on the spot. He died in the line of duty. He was only 38 years old.
