In January 1924, with the help of the Communist Party of China, Mr. Sun Yat-sen reorganized the Kuomintang in Guangzhou, established the three major policies of "uniting with Russia, uniting with the Communist Party, and supporting farmers and workers", established the Whampoa Military Academy, and prepared to launch the Northern Expedition to overthrow imperialism. During his training at the military academy, Wang Runbo studied hard and trained hard, and all previous academic examinations were excellent.After graduating from the military academy, Wang Runbo joined the ranks of the Northern Expedition with the National Revolutionary Army.In the battle with the Beiyang warlord army, he was brave and good at fighting, and was deeply relied on by his superiors. With his military exploits, he was gradually promoted to be a platoon leader, company commander, district captain, and regiment attache. Colonel of the Ninth Regiment. After the September 18th Incident in 1931, Japanese imperialism invaded and occupied the three northeastern provinces of our country and further advanced to North China.

In 1933, the Japanese imperialists made an inch of progress and launched a fierce attack on Rehe Province and various entrances along the Great Wall.The Chinese anti-Japanese soldiers and civilians couldn't bear it anymore and rose up to resist the Japanese aggression. The famous Battle of the Great Wall started. Under the leadership of General Guan Linzheng, the 25th Division of the Army was ordered to go to Gubeikou-Nantianmen in Miyun County to guard against danger. On March 9, the 25th Division arrived at Gubeikou to take over the defense of the 107th Division of the Northeast Army.

After Wang Runbo led his troops to arrive at the position, he immediately put into intense combat preparations. He went to the front line in person and urged commanders at all levels to build fortifications, deploy firepower, and prepare for a severe blow to the Japanese army.He also went deep into the battlefield, educated officers and soldiers with the principle that Japanese imperialism is not terrible, and defending the sacred and glorious homeland, encouraged them to fight the enemy bravely, and vowed to fight the Japanese invaders to the end. In the fierce battle, Wang Runbo was seriously injured and died heroically for his country. He was only 28 years old at the time. In order to commend martyr Wang Runbo for his heroic sacrifice in the Great Wall War of Resistance, the national government specially presented martyr Wang Runbo as a major general of the army.
