Chapter 29 "The work is heavy and it's all piled on you"

Still in the name of "Northern Shaanxi Xinhua Radio Station", the press release of "The Second Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Convened" was broadcast on March 23, 1949 (according to the existing broadcast draft of Northern Shaanxi Xinhua Radio Station, the title of the broadcast at that time was "The Second Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Concluded."). The first sentence of the press release was added by Mao Zedong, which broke the previous practice of keeping the location of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China strictly secret. In this way, he "made his debut" and said:

The Second Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held near Shijiazhuang. After eight days, the meeting has now come to a successful conclusion. ... Why did you choose the tenth day after the end of the conference—the broadcast on March 23?Why did you specify that the meeting was "held near Shijiazhuang"?The reason for this is that on March 23, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China "departed" from Xibaipo Village, Pingshan County, through Shijiazhuang and Baoding, and headed towards Beiping.Hu Qiaomu went north with Mao Zedong, arrived at Beiping Tsinghuayuan Station by train on March 25, and got off there.Hu Qiaomu was very moved, because he once staged a "drama" on the "stage" of Tsinghua Garden, and his university years are vivid in his memory.In the blink of an eye, nineteen years flew by, and now he returned to the ancient city as a victor...

Mao Zedong got off the train at Tsinghua Garden outside Beiping because Li Kenong, Minister of Social Affairs of the Communist Party of China, considered his safety and arranged for him to live in the outer suburbs—Shuangqing Villa on the southwestern slope of Xiangshan Mountain. Hu Qiaomu’s daughter, Hu Muying, recalled her excitement when she followed Yuying Primary School from Xibaipo to Beijing: There should be six or seven large trucks here to pull us students and teachers. At that time, students were issued masks, and it seems that they also issued a turban. , Anyway, I was very happy when I first got in the car. I have never been in this big truck, so I was very happy when I was sitting in the car. , the child is stumbling around, and the road is full of dirt, and when the car in front drives, the car behind eats dirt, so I can only wear a mask, wrap the headscarf and so on, so I don’t sing much afterwards up.It seems that I spent one night in Baoding and took a nap. It was a big room, a Datong shop. I woke up just after dawn, and then I got on the car again. It was already dark at night when I arrived in Beijing. Where did I come from? I can't tell who came in through the door, anyway, I finally got here through the Fuxing Gate.When we passed through Beijing, we were all in the countryside, so when we saw lights in Beiping, and cars on the road, of course there were all kinds of cars at that time, and camels, what else? Trolley, tram, ding dong ding dong, anyway, I think it's quite lively. In my impression, it's strange to see the neon lights in that barbershop turn around like that. Why does this light keep turning around? Also, several colors changed there, so I was very excited along the way...

As soon as he entered Peiping, there was a lot of waste waiting to be done. Mao Zedong could be said to be caught in the busyness of "everyday management", and Hu Qiaomu also fell into a "busy" state.This kind of busyness can be seen from a memo written by Mao Zedong to Hu Qiaomu on June 24, 1949: From June 24th (and it was already 6 pm) to July 2nd, in just one week, Mao Zedong asked Hu Qiaomu to complete four important articles of overall importance: (1) Papers commemorating July 1st; (2) Slogans commemorating July 7th; (3) Papers commemorating July 7th; (4) The joint statement of all parties commemorating July 7th.

Indeed, as Mao Zedong said, "The above tasks are very heavy, and they are all piled on you." Hu Qiaomu worked hard.His "pen of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China" kept writing day and night. In those busy days, he still wrote many editorials for Xinhua News Agency, such as: "Demand Nanjing Government to Surrender to the People" (April 5); "Celebrating the Liberation of Shanghai" (May 29); "A Confession of Helplessness—Comment on the U.S. White Paper on the China Issue" (August 20); "Old China Perishes, New China Is Born! "(September 22);

... He also wrote a lot of news.On April 20, 1949, when the Chinese People's Liberation Army was crossing the Yangtze River, four ships including the British ship "Amethyst" opened fire, and the "Amethyst" was injured and was forced to stop near Zhenjiang. On the night of July 30, the "Amethyst" took advantage of the passenger ship Jiangling Liberation passing Zhenjiang and forcibly approached the ship in order to cover its escape.The next day, Xinhua News Agency broadcast the press release "General Yuan Zhongxian's Speech on the Escape of the British Ship Amethyst", which was published by various newspapers, even the British newspapers also reprinted it.

Yuan Zhongxian, the Zhenjiang front-line commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.Everyone in the world thought that the press release was Yuan Zhongxian's speech to the Xinhua News Agency reporter.In fact, it was written by Hu Qiaomu in the name of Yuan Zhongxian according to Mao Zedong's instructions!
