Chapter 1 Your heart is like water, your homeland is like smoke

The first to know Wang Shiying is because of her status as the main planner of "Legend of Sword and Fairy III".Paladin III is a very classic stand-alone game, it is one of my favorite stand-alone games.Even if I had to name one of my favorites in all game genres, I would probably still choose it.The main reason for liking Paladin III is because I like the characters and stories in it.Therefore, when I heard that its main project had written a novel of the Three Kingdoms of Sword and Sword, I read it with sincerity and without being polite. "The Heart Like Water" is first of all a well-told story.Like a corner of a picture scroll handed down from ancient times, the story of "The Heart Like Water" begins with a simple little girl and a simple sacrifice. With the author's swaying brushstrokes, it gradually enters into a bloody event of a sinister and treacherous battle for royal power. This suspense-like main line can be very attractive to watch all the way, eager to know what the next scene, the following people, and the next truth are.

It sounds like this is what a novel should do.However, in my long reading experience, there are not many novels that can really do this.It is really not easy to tell a story like this so that people can keep reading. Of course, "The Heart Like Water" can do this well, apart from the author Wang Shiying's undoubted storytelling ability, there is another reason, that is, this main story is born out of the classic "Jiangnan Case".Reality is often more dramatic than fiction. What's more, the famous Jiangnan case is such a murder case of the century where grievances and love-hate intertwined, faith and espionage coexist!Even today, its truth remains the same as Rashomon.Such a major case of the century obviously touched the author of this book greatly, and refitted its core part to the Warring States Period when assassins were more flamboyant and romantic. The tragic events from reality will obviously make the work different from ordinary stories that are purely imagined.

Obviously, the background of the times of this book is also very flattering. The disputes of the Warring States Period not only included domestic conflicts, but also conflicts between countries, which obviously could tell better stories. In addition to good-looking stories and vivid characters, this book is also very "authentic" in many aspects. It is about the stories of the Shang, Zhou and Warring States, and the titles of those chapters are used as ancient poems in the Book of Songs.Because it was the Warring States Period, the protagonists lived the festivals of the time, such as Qiusha Day.There are also costumes. The protagonist's costumes have not been time-traveled. Whether it is clothes or accessories, they are indeed old things from that year. For example, I noticed that it mentioned "two-color dark flowers with silk and floating wefts", which was the ancient clothing before the Han Dynasty. There are also the sparrow meat and sunflower soup, sour bamboo shoots, plum sauce cress, scallion and ginger steamed fish, net oil roasted liver, honey pickled mulberry, yellow rice, cane juice, all of which seem to be the author's understanding of the various flavors of that era. The customs, basic necessities of life, housing and transportation are very researched.

Speaking of this, I can't help but think of the "Tao Zhen" barbecue in Paladin III.The official novel of Xianjian was written by me. When I wrote about Daozhen in the original book of this game, I was thinking that in the game planning, there must be someone who has a special understanding of the food of the Warring States Period. When I saw "The Heart Like Water" today, I couldn't help guessing, could it be that Wang Shiying was the person who wrote it down? When reading this book, there is another place that I admire, that is, the dialogue is well written. It seems that most women's writing has this characteristic, and the dialogue is much richer than that of male writers. With such overall characteristics, maybe they like to talk and communicate by nature.Looking at the natural and connotative dialogues in the article, I was thinking, this can be directly adapted into a plot script of a role-playing game.

Another highlight of this book is the dialogue between men and women, such as the dialogue between Yan Wei and Lu Jin, which often shows the author's delicate understanding of the relationship between men and women.Only in this way can we readers feel empathy. For example, the son's infatuated behavior towards the heroine is not only poignant but also heroic based on his special identity. It is Wang Shiying's many such superb descriptions that let me know what a truly infatuated and responsible man should look like from a female perspective. Not only does it have the delicate tenderness unique to female writers, but I also see in the book the calmness that the author should have as a professional writer. For example, when the weak heroine was tortured, I expected the girl to undergo a brutal and severe torture before the routine reversal-the result was not there, she was really tortured!Seeing these, I am thrilled as a reader, and my other identity as a writer makes me really admire Wang Shiying's calmness and professionalism. She was not in the slightest bound by many conventions and conventions.

In short, I would like to thank Wang Shiying for allowing us to watch a long scroll of the Shang, Zhou and Warring States unfold slowly with the eyes of the protagonists. There we can not only see the love between children, joys and sorrows, but more importantly, we can also have a close look at the unique assassin romance in the Warring States Period.
