Chapter 32 postscript

On September 1, 2004, terrorists occupied the No. 1 Middle School in Beslan, North Ossetia, Russia, and took a large number of students, parents and teachers hostage.The hostage incident lasted until 3 days, resulting in the death of 331 people, 186 of whom were children. The victims are heartbreaking, and the survivors may not be happy. During the incident, after negotiations, the terrorists agreed to release a group of women and children, but only allowed each mother to take away one child. There is a mother who happens to have two children. The eldest daughter is six years old and just sensible, and the younger one is just a baby in her arms.

I don't know if it was a painful choice, but the mother only took the baby away in the end. After the incident, the eldest daughter returned to her mother alive, but her feelings towards her mother had completely changed. I saw this kind of footage on the news: my daughter was swinging in the yard at home, she looked the same, and she was even singing to herself.But when her mother came to her and called her name, she didn't respond. Her "eyes were lifeless, as if they were covered with a layer of ice." This is the starting point of the original creation of the novel.
