You should be hiding behind a short screen. The wind is very strong, and it often blows the curtain. You can see it from the gap outside. Like a doctor, close to your side, It's too boring." She didn't think it looked good.The old nun thought she was sitting proudly, and her appearance was not ugly.In addition, she was old and hard of hearing. When she saw her daughter talking to her, she just tilted her head and asked, "Ah, what?" In fact, the old nun was not very old, she was sixty-five or sixteen years old this year.The nuns are very neat and tidy, and their temperament is also very noble.But now her eyes are full of tears, her eyelids are red and swollen, and she looks a little weird.Mrs. Akashi guessed that she was telling the old story to the queen, and she couldn't help but panic, so she said: "Are you talking about those boring things in the past? I'm afraid you can't remember clearly, talk nonsense, and make the past things weird. What happened back then was really like a dream." She looked at Nu Yu with a smile, but she saw that she was delicate and lovely, but she was much calmer than usual, as if she was preoccupied.Mrs. Akashi did not treat her as a daughter, but only as a respectable nobleman.She was afraid that the old nun would tell the empress many bitter things, which would upset her.She originally wanted to wait for the female imperial concubine to become a queen in the future, and then tell her the past.Now that I told her earlier, although it didn't make her sad or disappointed, knowing her background like this would always disappoint her.
After chanting and praying, the monks withdrew.Mrs. Akashi came over with a plate of fruit, and said to the female imperial servant, "Let's eat some fruit." She wanted to take this to relieve her boredom.The old nun looked at the female imperial concubine eagerly, and felt that this figure was really beautiful and lovely, so she couldn't help crying.Her mouth opened in a strange shape, expressing laughter, but the corners of her eyes were teary, and she seemed to be crying.Mrs. Akashi thought it was really ugly, so she gave her a wink, but the old nun didn't care, and recited a poem:
"When the old nun came to the Immortal Cave, don't blame him for crying.
Even in ancient times, an old man like me was forgiven. "Akashi Nvyu took a piece of paper from the inkstone and wrote:
"I want to beg the old nun to be a guide, and visit Mao'an at the ends of the earth."

"Living in Akashi and leaving the world, I am fascinated by Jinghua to read my children and grandchildren."

Even so, I seem to feel that this body has entered another world. Therefore, there is no special accident, and I will not ask you. I am used to seeing Chinese classics, it takes time to read letters with pseudonyms, and it will make you slack off reciting Buddhism, which is really useless. For this reason, I never write to you. According to rumors: my granddaughter has entered the palace as a princess, and has given birth to a child Prince, I am very happy to hear this. There is a reason for this matter. Today I can tell you: I am a humble man in the mountains, and I am no longer greedy for the glory of this world. But for many years, my six sense organs have not been purified, and I am at six o'clock in the day and night. When cultivating diligently, first pray to the Buddha for your affairs, and put aside the matter of your own blissful rebirth. In the year of your birth, one night in February, I had a dream. I dreamed that I held Mount Sumeru in my right hand, The sun and the moon rose from the left and right sides of the mountain, shining brilliantly, and shining all over the world. But I myself hid in the shadow of the mountain and was not exposed to the light of the sun and the moon. Later, I put the mountain into the sea, floated on the water, and sailed westward in a small boat Yes. This is what I saw in my dream.

I have seen the dawn and the sky is approaching dawn, dare to prove the old dream to the present situation. "
按佛教的说法：往生极乐世界，分上中下三品，每品又分上生、中生、下生。故共有九品。上品上生为最高级。
古歌：“远方水草多清趣，扰攘都城不可居。”见《古今著闻集》，是玄宾僧都入山修道时所作。
信上写明月日，又附加数行：“你等不须知道我命终之月日。古来惯例，居丧必着麻衣，此亦大可不必。你只须将自己看作神佛化身，而为我这老法师多做功德可矣。既享现世之乐，勿忘后世之事！但能成遂往生极乐之愿，将来必有再见之期。你须记住：将来离此娑婆世界，到达彼岸净土，即可重新聚首。”又把在住吉大寺所陈愿文装在一口沉香木大箱子里，加封随函送来。
致老尼姑的信中并无特别事情，但说：“我定于是月十四日离此草庵，遁入深山，将以此无用之身施舍熊狼。但仍望你长生住世，以待夙愿之成遂。你我当在极乐净土再相会面也。”老尼姑看了此信，便向送信来的僧人探问情由。僧人答道：“师父写此信后三日，即移居人迹不到的深山中。贫僧等一齐走送，但行至山麓，即被遣返。随行者只一僧人及二童子。师父昔年弃家学道，我等以为已极悲哀之情，岂知更有此悲哀之事！师父年来修行之暇，常倚床弹琴，或奏琵琶。此次临行，取此二乐器在佛前弹奏，向佛告辞。并将乐器施入佛堂。其他种种器什，多数捐献寺院。其余物件分赠平素亲近之弟子六十余人，借留遗念。尚有剩者，今已运来京都，以供尊处使用。师父舍我等而去，深入山中，隐身云霞之间。此地空留陈迹，悲叹之人甚多。”此僧人童年随明石道人由京都下明石浦，今已成为老法师。此次明石道人入山，此僧人不胜悲伤。即使是释迦牟尼佛诸弟子中之圣者，并且确信佛涅槃后常住灵鹫山，但当“薪尽火灭”之时，亦不免深为哀悼。何况老尼姑闻此消息，当然悲伤无限。
《法华经》云：灵鹫山在印度摩揭陀国王舍城东北，释迦牟尼涅槃（即死）后常住此山。又云；“释尊入灭，如薪尽火灭。”
此时明石夫人陪着女御住在东南院。老尼姑派人去通报她，说明石浦上送来了这样的信。明石夫人便悄悄地回西北院来。明石夫人现在身分尊贵，非有重要事情，难得和老尼姑往来。现在听说有可悲的事，甚是担心，所以立刻悄悄地来了。走进室内，看见老尼姑神情异常悲伤。她走近灯前，读了明石道人的信，眼泪流个不住。在别人看来，此乃无足轻重之事。但明石夫人回思昔年父女之情，心中不胜依恋。想起永别慈父，今后不得再见，便觉伤心之极，无可奈何了。她一面流泪不止，一面看见父亲信中所说的梦，庆喜自己前程有望。她想：“如此说来，昔年父亲固执己见，强把我嫁与身分不相称之人，几乎误我终身，使我一时心迷意乱，原来是凭仗这个无据之梦，而怀抱着高飞远举之志！” 此时她才恍然大悟。老尼姑踌躇良久，才对她说道：“我托你的福，坐享荣华，面目增光，幸运实已过分，然而悲哀与忧患亦比常人加倍。我虽是微不足数之人，然而舍弃了久已住惯的京都而沉沦在荒僻的浦上，已觉得是异乎常人的苦命了。我与汝父同生此世，但别室而居，夫妇乖隔。然而我并不介意，但望他日同生极乐世界，再结后世之缘。岂料蛰居多年之后，你忽然离乡入京，我又随你重返当年背弃的京都。眼看你等荣华富贵，无任欣慰。然而遥念家乡，又时时牵挂，不绝添愁。终于不能再见汝父，此生遂成永诀，真乃遗憾之事！汝父未出家时，性情本已异乎常人，颇有愤世嫉俗之概。但与我从小意气相投，情谊之厚无比，彼此信赖甚深。何以居处相去不远，而一旦忽成永别呢？”她继续诉说，样子非常悲恸。明石夫人也哭得很伤心。她说：“我的前程虽说比别人远大，但我并不引为荣幸。象我这微不足数之身，终无显贵之望。今又身逢悲痛之事，从此不能与父亲再见，真乃抱恨无穷！我年来一举一动，无非为了欲慰亲心。今老父闭居深山之中，世事无常，一旦天年消尽，我这用心都是徒然的了！”是夜母女两人共诉愁情，直到天明。明石夫人说：“昨日六条院主君看见我住在那边，今日忽然不见，未免怪我轻率。我自身绝无顾虑，但恐有伤女御体面，所以不敢任意行动。”便决定在天色向晓之时回东南院去。临行老尼姑对她说道：“小皇子近来如何？我很想看看他呢。”说着又哭起来。明石夫人答道：“不久你就会看到他的。女御对你非常亲爱，常在说起你呢。主君也在谈话中说起你，他说：'我要说句不吉祥的预言：如果换了朝代，小皇子果然做了皇太子，希望那时候老尼姑长生在世才好。'大概他心中有什么计划吧。”老尼姑听了这话立刻破涕为笑，说道： “哎呀，如此说来，我的命运真是优越无比的了！”就不胜欣喜。明石夫人便带了道人送来的文件箱子回去了。
皇太子屡次催促明石女御回宫。紫夫人说：“难怪他如此想念。况且添了一件喜事，教他怎么不等得心焦呢？”便悄悄地准备送小皇子母子入宫。小皇子的母亲鉴于入宫后乞假归里之不易，颇想乘此机会在娘家再多住几天。她年纪还小，经过此次可怕的生产之后，形容略见消瘦，姿态异常袅娜。明石夫人等都很担心，说道：“还是在这里多休养几天，等到身体康复后再入宫吧。” 源氏说：“脸庞消瘦些，皇太子看了反而更加怜爱呢。”紫夫人等回去以后，傍晚人静之时，明石夫人来到女御房中，将明石道人送文件箱来等事告诉了她。明石夫人说：“在你没有如意称心地当皇后之前，我本想将此箱隐藏起来，暂勿令你启视。然而世事无常，人命难知，如此办法终觉不能放心。万一在你未能随心所欲地行事之前，我身有了三长两短，照我的地位，临终时必然不能和你诀别。因此还不如趁我身体健康之时将这一件琐屑之事告诉了你。这封信文字古怪，难于阅读，但也得给你看看。这些祈愿文可放在近旁的柜子里，有便时务须一读。其中所许的愿，将来必须酬偿。此事不可向疏远之人泄露。你的前程已可确保无忧，故我亦拟出家为尼。近来此心日益迫切，以致万事局促不安。紫夫人的恩惠，你切不可忘记。我看到她对你深切无比的关怀，但愿她寿年千岁，比我长生得多。本来是应该由我抚育你的，但我因身分低微，不得不处处谦抑，所以将你让与紫夫人抚育。年来我总以为她不过是一个世间普通的义母，却想不到她会如此真心地爱你。今后我可完全放心了。”此外又讲了许多话。明石女御流着眼泪听她讲。她在这个至亲的生母面前，也常恪守礼仪，态度十分谦恭。明石道人的信，词句艰深，毫无风趣，写在厚实的陆奥纸上，共五六页。纸已陈旧，颜色变黄，但熏香十分浓重。明石女御读时深为感动，长垂的额发渐渐沾湿了眼泪，那模样甚是娇艳。
源氏此时正在三公主处。他突然开了界门，走进明石女御房中来了。明石夫人来不及将文件箱隐藏，便把帷屏稍稍拉近，将箱遮掩，自己也躲在帷屏背后了。源氏说：“小皇子醒了没有？我一刻不见，便想念他。”明石女御默默不答。明石夫人从帷屏后面答道：“小皇子给紫夫人抱去了。”源氏说：“这太不成话了。成天价在那边，这小皇子被她一人独占了。她一直抱在怀中，不肯放手，弄得衣服都湿透，一件一件地更换。为什么这样轻率地让她抱去呢？应该叫她到这里来看才是。”明石夫人答道：“ 哎呀，这话太不体谅人了！即使是个皇女，由她抚育也最为妥善，何况是个皇子。身分固然高贵无比，但在那边不是很可放心的么？虽然是说笑，也不要过分苛刻地说这种冷酷的话呀！”源氏笑道： “那么，听凭你们作主，我就一切不管好了。你们大家都排斥我，对我说话神气活现，真可笑。现在你就躲在帷屏背后板起了面孔责备我。”说着，便把帷屏拉开，但见明石夫人将身体靠在正屋的柱子上，姿态非常美丽，教人看了自觉羞愧。刚才那只文件箱，未便慌忙隐藏，照旧放在那里。源氏看到了，问道：“这是什么箱子？看样子是情人欲寄相思，把所咏的长歌封入这箱子里送来的吧。”明石夫人答道：“唉，真讨厌啊！你自己变了个老少年，就常常说这种使人意想不到的笑话。”她口角微露笑容，但是脸上显然心事满腹。源氏觉得奇怪，侧着头不解其意。明石夫人为难了，便说：“这是那明石浦上的岩屋里送来的，里面藏着我父亲私下祈祷时所读的经卷，以及尚未酬偿的祈愿。他说倘有机会，可否给你看看。但是现在尚非其时，所以不必打开。”源氏想起了明石道人那种可怜的模样，说道：“道人的修行功夫一定积得很深了吧。他很寿长，多年勤勉修持，可以消除不少罪障。世间原有身分高贵、学问渊博的人，然而对于尘世浊虑，习染亦深，故虽曰贤慧，亦甚有限，总不及这位道人的清高。他对于佛道造诣极深，而为人又颇有风趣。他没有高僧那种解脱尘世的态度，然而内心纯净无垢，直通净土。何况现在已经心无挂碍，便可完全脱离俗世了。我若能随意行动，颇想悄悄地前去探望他呢。” 明石夫人说：“据说他现已离弃原来的住处，遁入鸟声也听不到的深山中去了。”源氏说：“如此说来，这是他的遗言了！有否通过消息？师姑老太太想必悲伤不堪吧。须知夫妻之情，比父女之谊深切得多呢。”说着流下泪来。随后又说：“我年纪大起来，渐渐了解种种人情世故之后，想起了道人的风貌品质，便觉得怪可思慕。何况师姑老太太与他结发情深，这别离该是多么伤心啊！”
明石姬觉得机会到了，想道：“若把我父亲做的那个梦告诉他，大概他也会感动吧。”便答道：“父亲寄来的信，笔迹古怪，仿佛是梵文。然而其中也有值得请你看的地方，就请你一读吧。昔年我辞家入京之时，以为自今一别，尘缘断绝了。岂知思念之情，仍然遗留在心中！”说过之后便嘤嘤啜泣，娇艳动人。源氏拿过信来一看，说道：“照这信看来，道人身体着实清健，还没有衰老之相呢。不论笔迹或其他任何方面，都见得特别富有修养。只是对于处世之道，用心未免不足耳。外人都说：'此人的先祖大臣十分贤明，曾尽忠竭力为朝廷效劳。只因其行事舛误，应得报应，故子孙不能繁昌。'但就女子方面看来，目今尊荣已极，决不是后继无人的。这正是道人多年来勤修佛道的善报吧。”他挥泪阅读来信，看到了记梦的地方，想道：“人皆责备明石道人，说他言行任僻，妄自尊大。我也觉得他当年对我的要求，虽属偶然，实甚唐突。直到后来小女公子诞生，我方悟得彼此宿缘之深厚。然而对于目前看不到的将来之事，我心始终怀疑。现在读了他的信，方知他凭仗着这个梦，因此强要将女儿嫁我。如此说来，我当年横遭冤屈，漂泊天涯，也是为这小女公子一人之故。但不知明石道人心中有何祈愿。”他颇思一看愿文，便在心中顶礼膜拜，拿起愿文来读。又对女御说道：“除了这个，我也有东西要给你看，还有话要对你讲。”乘便又对她说道：“现在你已经明白已往的事情了，然而你不可因此而忽视了紫夫人的深恩。骨肉之情的亲爱，原是当然的。但毫无血统关系的人的爱顾，甚至一句好意的话，却是更可宝贵的。何况她天天看见你的生母在旁服侍你，而对你的爱依旧不变，诚恳周到地照拂你，实在是一个心地善良的人。从古以来，世间关于继母有这样的话：'继母养儿表面亲。'这句话洞察人心，似乎是贤明之言，其实不然。即使有的继母对继子真心怀着恶意，但只要继子毫不介意，竭诚地孝顺继母，那时继母自会真心感动，翻然悔悟，自念我何故虐待此子，岂不怕获罪于天，于是她的心便改悔了。除了宿世冤家之外，两人即使感情不洽，只要其中一人开诚相待，则对方自然也会改悔。此种事例甚多。反之，为了区区小事，便强横霸道，指责挑剔，毫无亲善之色，拒人于千里之外，这便冤仇难解，没有和好的余地了。我阅人虽然不多，但观察人心种种趣向，觉得性情气度，各有独得之处，每人皆有所长，绝无全不可取的。然而想要从中找一个终身伴侣，而郑重选择起来，则又觉得难乎其难。真正心无习癖、性情善良的人，只有紫夫人一人。我觉得这个人真可称为淑女。但所谓善良，如果过分宽容，变成糊涂，不可信赖，则又不足取了。”他一味如此赞誉紫夫人，则对其他诸夫人的评价可想而知了。
他又低声对明石夫人说：“你颇能知情察理，但愿你与紫夫人和睦相处，同心协力地照顾这位女御。”明石夫人答道：“此事不消说得。我看了紫夫人的慈祥气色，朝夕赞颂，不绝于口呢。如果紫夫人把我看作卑贱之人而不容谅我，那么女御也不会如此亲近我了。如今紫夫人对我异常垂青，教我反而觉得不好意思。我这微不足数之人，不自殒灭，活在这世间教女御丢脸，实属不该。全赖紫夫人不加罪责，鼎力庇护……”源氏说：“她对你的关怀，倒也算不得特别深切。只因她自己不能常常随伴女御，很不放心，所以将此任务让你担当。你并不明目张胆、以母亲身分独断独行，因此万事圆满顺利，教我心无挂念，不胜欣慰。即使区区小事，若有性情乖僻、不通情理之人参与其间，便使得旁人大家为难。且喜我周围并无此种人物，我大可放心了。”明石夫人想道：“如此说来，我一向卑躬屈节，终是便宜。”
源氏回紫夫人房中去了。明石夫人在背后私议道：“他对紫夫人的宠爱越来越深。这位夫人的人品，的确十全无缺，高人一等，理应如此承宠，教人不胜赞佩。他对三公主，表面上也很重视，然而在她房中留宿的日子不多，实在委屈了她。她和紫夫人同一血统，而身分比紫夫人更高，因此更多痛苦了。”她回想自己，觉得宿世福报不浅，深可庆幸。她想：“三公主身分如此高贵，尚且在这世间不能如意称心，何况我这对她望尘莫及的人。我今生已无恨事，只是挂念那位断绝尘缘、闭居深山的老父，不免悲伤耳。”她的母亲师姑老太太呢，只管信赖道人信中所言“ 福地园莳种善因”之语，时时想念后世之事，寂寞地度送岁月。
古歌：“在此无常尘世中，多多莳种善因缘。今后相会在何许？耶输多罗福地园。”耶输多罗是释迦牟尼为太子时的妃子，后来与五百释女一同出家，为尼众之主，居福地园中。
且说夕雾大将对三公主，并非没有恋念之情。如今三公主嫁到六条院来，住在近旁了，使他不能无动于衷。他便以寻常问候为借口，每逢适当机会，便到三公主居处侍候，其间自然窥见或听到了三公主的情状。原来三公主年纪很小，而态度大模大样，外表威仪堂皇。其养尊处优，可为世间表率，然而并无显著的优雅风度。她身边的侍女，也少有老成持重之人，多数是青年美女，只爱好繁华生涯与风流情趣。这无数侍女聚集在这里服侍她，她的香闺真可说是一处无忧无虑的乐土。但其中也有对万事都沉着镇静的人，只因心中之事不能表现于外，便怀着无人能知的悲愁，参与在无忧无虑、真心欢乐的人群中。又被旁人诱惑，便和她们同化，亦作欢笑之颜。最是那些女童，朝夕热中于无聊的游戏，源氏看在眼里，颇感不快。但他的本性，对世事绝不固执己见，因此听任这些女童自由取乐，以为她们既然喜爱此种游戏，亦自深可原谅，故并不加以斥责或训诫：唯有对于三公主本人的举止言行，则十分用心教导，因此三公主也渐渐进步了。夕雾大将看到此种情状，想道：“世间完全无缺的女子，真正不易多得啊。只有那位紫夫人，不论在性情上或仪态上，多年以来，一向不曾被人看出或听到一点缺陷。她的本质稳重沉着，心地温良。她不轻视别人，而自身又永保尊严，气度越发显得高超可爱。”他那天窥见的面影便浮现在心头，难于忘怀了。他回思自己的夫人云居雁，觉得爱情亦很深厚，然而此人毕竟缺乏那种可贵的、优雅的情趣。她那温柔驯良的风度，夕雾现已看惯，不复深感兴趣了。但觉这六条院里聚集着许多女子，袅娜娉婷，各尽其美。他私下想象，艳羡之心难禁。尤其是这位三公主，照她的高贵身分想来，应该受得父亲无限宠幸，然而父亲对她并无特别深切的爱情，只在人目所见的面子上表示重视。夕雾有此感想，虽然不敢发生非礼之念，但总觉得三公主深可怜爱，指望有缘见她一面。
再说那个柏木卫门督，一向常在朱雀院邻内出入，与朱雀院十分亲昵，因此详细了解他疼爱三公主的心情。朱雀院替三公主择婿时，柏木闻知种种消息，自己也曾提出求婚，朱雀院并不认为不当。后来三公主终于嫁给了源氏，柏木大为失望，心中十分悲伤，直到如今不能忘怀。他那时曾央三公主的侍女小侍从替他撮合，现在就从这侍女那里探询三公主的情况，聊以自慰，真乃画饼点饥。他听见世人传说：三公主也被紫夫人的威势所压倒，便对三公主的乳母的女儿--亦即他自己的乳母的甥女--小侍从发牢骚，说道：“公主太委屈了！要是嫁给了我，决不致受这种闲气。虽然她是金枝玉叶，我高攀不上……”他时时刻刻在想： “世事变化无定。六条院主人早有出家修行之意，如果一旦毅然实行，这三公主终归我有。”
三月某日，天朗气清，萤兵部卿亲王和柏木卫门督来六条院问候。源氏出来接见，相与闲谈。源氏说道：“我这里四周冷静，这几天更加寂寞，毫无一点新鲜花样。公私都清闲无事，这日子如何消遣呢？”后来又说：“今天早上大将来过，此刻不知到哪儿去了。寂寞得厌烦了，叫他带了小弓来射箭，倒很好看呢。现在有青年游伴在这里，可惜他已经回去了吧？”左右的人答道： “大将现在东北院，正在和许多人蹴鞠呢。”源氏说：“蹴鞠这件事动作粗暴，然而叫人醒目，令人兴奋，倒也好玩。叫他到这里来玩如何？”便派人去叫。夕雾大将立刻来了，带了许多公子哥儿之类的人来。源氏问道：“球带来了没有？同来的这班人是谁啊？”夕雾答道：“他们是某某等人，可否叫他们都到这里来？”源氏许诺。
蹴鞠即踢球。
正殿东面，本来是明石女御所居，此时女御带着新生的小皇子回宫去了，这院子里很空。夕雾等便在离开湖边稍远的地方找定了一处良好的蹴鞠场。太政大臣家诸公子，如头弁、兵卫佐、大夫等，有的年事已长，有的尚未成年，个个都是出人头地的蹴鞠好手。日色渐暮，头弁说道：“今天没有风，正是蹴鞠的好日子！”他忍耐不住，也就下去参加蹴鞠了。源氏看了，说道： “
