Chapter 10 My Speech Battle (2), serious look under the seminar

After studying at the East China Sea Institute of Sociology, I had to attend some academic seminars, otherwise I would be excluded because of the fact that "nine knives are useless".This is a bit of unwillingness. The research direction of my master's thesis is the relationship between online literature and the community it embraces (publishers, authors, readers, cultural elites, and the general public), so all the seminars I participated in have something to do with this topic. Thanks to the seminars, my master's thesis gradually developed in order to say something different each time.

The biggest difference between an academic seminar and an invited speech is that it can save time for telling jokes. It's not that you can't talk, but that no one laughs when you talk about it. In all honesty, it’s not that no one is laughing, but I, who have actually witnessed the roar of laughter, can only feel that the audience participating in the seminar is just smiling at me. When I report my research content, I focus on the following directions: try to make serious things simple, make meaningful cases vivid and interesting, and repeatedly emphasize the most original points of my report. (This is very important, I cannot accept academic speeches without real originality).

It doesn't matter how many people are there at this point, but I really hope that even if they are forced to come, they will sit down with interest and keep their eyes open when I present my research report... Audience The reaction of the author can inspire me a little, or kill the spirit when I report. During my graduate studies, I maintained a small but steady stream of public speaking opportunities by attending seminars. The advantages and disadvantages of this kind of speech are the same. The good thing is that almost no one is my readers, even scholars or graduate students who don't know what Internet literature is, so my job is to help them understand what Internet literature is like, and believe that my research results are of great importance to them. Follow-up researchers are very useful.I just need to focus on that, and don't care if anyone laughs or not.

The downside is that since almost no one is my readers, there are even many scholars who neither read online novels nor really know how to use the Internet (some of them even publish online literature research), so they are basically unnecessary Unmotivated to listen to my presentation carefully, I could barely articulate my presentation and had to go straight to the point to grab their attention within five minutes of launching the slideshow. If I notice that the seminar participants down below are not interested in my presentation and start to close their eyes or start simple harmonic movements of their heads at all, I will speak quickly, very quickly, because I have published some research in advance. The outline of the report continues. Since you are not interested in my oral explanation, go home and read it slowly.

To be honest, different occasions have different audiences, and my limits are quickly self-aware. Facing the unresponsive audience, I may not always be interested in fighting!
