Chapter 10 Live up to it, the tea brewed by the taste of the world

It seems that as long as you mention Zen Buddhism to others, you will feel that it is an illusory realm with incomprehensible mysteries.But I don't know that the profound background expresses the simple truth.But the simple exterior has a deep connotation.We always regard the Buddhist world as a mystery, and try our best to figure out the final answer.Little do we know that in a game of chess in life, we are always powerless about winning or losing.When you are confused, you are mostly inside the game. When you realize it, you are already outside the game.If you use a peaceful mind to see everything in the world, it is simple and clear.If you look at the world of mortals with a complicated mentality, you will be fascinated by the world.

This is the meaning of the so-called Youwei is Qinghuan and prosperity.There is such a monk's poem, which is rarely circulated, and the style is not high, but the language is concise and easy to understand, like a cup of leisure tea, light and durable.He is Wang Fanzhi, a vernacular poet monk in the Tang Dynasty. Although his poems are simple in words, their principles are true.Most of them use simple and simple Buddhist principles to exhort the world to do good and stop evil.When we are exhausted by the tedious affairs every day, we occasionally read a few of his poems, like eating too many delicacies, chewing the fragrance of steamed bread and vegetable roots;

In fact, everyone needs one or several volumes in their life, which are suitable for them.In the scroll, maybe there is no need for gorgeous words, or rich ink fragrance.As long as it can satisfy a hungry and thirsty person, it is a good book.A person with connotation and tolerance can see emotion and Zen in a plant; he can regard a speck of dust as a confidant and a good friend; Find nectar in it.These all originate from the realm of the heart, when the heart is clear, it will be bright, and if the heart is muddy, it will be muddy.In the hasty reincarnation of the world, we leave deep and shallow imprints, but we don't know who can be sure to return ourselves to the original purity.

"The steamed buns outside the city are stuffed with grass in the city. It's tasteless to eat one for each person." Such a simple and straightforward poem, without any embellishment or cover-up, can make you speechless.It doesn't matter if you are an emperor, a general or a commoner; you are powerful, but you are humble and cowardly;All these are insignificant in the face of death, and the god of death can terminate your life at any time without saying hello.What you want to say has not been finished, what you have to do has not been done, and the person you want to love has not been loved enough.There is only one life, and no one will be given a chance to do it again.How many heroes don't live long, how many beauties die. When they die, it's just a pile of weeds and dust, covering this short life.

Using earthen steamed buns as a metaphor for the grave, which goes straight to the bone, seems ironic, but also has helplessness.This earthen bun was abandoned outside the city, overgrown with weeds, and lonely.But the stuffed grass is in the bustling city. They are enjoying the prosperity and carefree at this moment. On the day of their death, they will also live in this earthen bun. They make their house with dust and grass as their quilt, talk to shadows, and live with loneliness as their neighbor. .Whether you like to eat this bun or not, you must eat one, and you can only eat one.The stuffing in the bun may not be your favorite taste, but you can't dislike it, because death is the final result, and no one can make other choices.Everyone understands the laws of nature, but in the face of life and death, they cannot be calm and understand it thoroughly.And the heavy death was resolved with ease and humor by his relaxed tone.

"There are no people of a hundred years in the world, and the tone of a thousand years is forced. Strike iron as the threshold, and ghosts clap their hands and laugh." We are all mediocre, and when we have no other choice, we can only accept the law of birth, old age, sickness and death.No one can seek immortality, but they have to persistently seek immortal medicines, in vain attempt to become immortals, so as to avoid the suffering of reincarnation.According to legend, Chen Sengzhi, a descendant of Wang Xizhi, was good at calligraphy. He was so famous for a time that many people who asked for the book stepped through the threshold, so he wrapped it in iron leaves to make it more durable.The "strike iron as the threshold" here is quoted from here.How many people are tirelessly pursuing and making long and illusory plans for life.But he didn't know that his futility made him clap his hands and make fun of him.Fan Chengda of the Song Dynasty once cast the poetic meaning of these two poems into a couplet: "Even if there is a thousand-year-old iron threshold, there must be a bun." These two poems became Li Miaoyu's favorite, and she also realized that Out of life and death, this seemingly hidden mystery is actually a simple truth.Among them, the origin of "Tiekan Temple" and "Mantou Temple" is also here.

Wang Fanzhi's poems express his satire to the world. It seems that he is a sober person who penetrates everything in the world, looks down on the stupidity of ordinary people, and uses his harmonious language to vividly express his understanding of life.And we have lost even the right to argue back and the ability to refute.This makes us wonder, who is Wang Fanzhi? Did he become a monk when he was a child?Otherwise, how can we have such understanding? In Wang Fanzhi's life, there are many unsatisfactory things, and it is precisely because he has tasted the world and human feelings that he can suddenly realize it.Born in a wealthy family, he lived a leisurely life in his childhood and read a lot of poetry and books.After the Sui and Tang dynasties, the family declined and became poor.In his later years, his children were unfilial, so he was forced to beg along the door, and lived a miserable life with little clothes and no food.He converted to Buddhism when he was in his fifties, and it was the Buddha who rescued him from the sea of suffering in the world.It can be said that he has tasted both ups and downs in his life, and it is not surprising that he can finally understand the mystery of life and death.

It is said that the world is complicated, but in fact, no matter how confusing the road is, there is a clear thread.Sometimes, it's just people who are interested in making mysteries, so that people who are lost can't see the front clearly.People in the world commit the precepts of greed, hatred and ignorance.They always hope that all the wealth and fame in the world can be appropriated for themselves, but they don't understand that being reckless is an unforgivable sin.When we are down and down, we will understand how much a steamed bun is worth cherishing. It provides food and clothing for the hungry and cold, and adds luster to the gloomy life.

A young man is willing to exchange youth for money, but an old man is willing to exchange money for youth.There are always people with the mentality of playing games, interacting in the world.No one can practice Zen and enlightenment in the flower street and willow alley, and cultivate one's morality in the billowing smoke and dust.We are always mourning the past yesterday, worrying about the tomorrow that has not come, and wasting today arbitrarily. How much comfort, how calm, how much hypocrisy, how much falsehood, all blow away with the wind and turn into dust.Life is in the moment, we don't have to hesitate anymore, we have to pick it up and put it down, so as to live up to this cup of tea brewed with a strong flavor of the world.
