Hallow's Eve finally came without warning. When I walked by the school cafeteria on a Friday afternoon, I was taken aback. It was a normal restaurant at noon, but now it suddenly changed completely. All the tables and chairs were moved to one side, exposing the open space in the middle as a dance floor. The jack-o-lanterns on the tables flickered, and all the walls were covered with white cobwebs, black spiders and bats, and blood-dripping limbs everywhere. It can almost be faked in dim light. "I really can't wait," I smelled a fresh fruity fragrance, Alex suddenly appeared beside me at some point, looking at the decorated venue with an unconcealable excitement on his face.To be honest, I really want to tell him that he is not suitable for this kind of expression of dementia, what a pity for his pretty face.

But he's obviously going to keep that smirk going, and to make matters worse, he's starting to make a fuss. "Oh my god, I thought he was just doing odd jobs in the student union, but I didn't expect him to be a prom DJ!" "what?" "Our Quinn!" Alex shouted excitedly, pointing to the Halloween poster on the wall. In the middle of the program on the poster was a line: "Prom DJ - Quinn James." This name makes me jittery.I kept thinking about what Mr. Rowes said, and I remembered that I saw him in the darkroom and developed photos with him, but why did Mr. Rowes say that he didn't go to class? And if it wasn't Mr. Rowes, how did he find me in the dark of the dark room?I have tons of questions in my head, but the truth is, I haven't seen Quinn in a long time.

"So what?" I muttered, putting a copy of "Principles of Semiotics" I just borrowed from the library into my schoolbag. "You read Roland Barthes?" Alex gave me the same odd look he'd had the first time he'd seen me in the Latin class. I ignored him, zipped up my schoolbag, and strode out of the school. By the time I got home, Debbie couldn't wait to change into her new black velvet dress (she had an afternoon class, but she skipped it).Now she's taking my eyeliner and applying it to her eyes, looking in the mirror and wiping it off, then going on to do a panda eye.

I sat in my room eating my macaroni and bacon and watching her tinker in front of my mirror. "Can you do me a favor?" After wiping off the eyeliner for the third time, she gave up. I looked up at the time, "Please, it's not yet half past six, and the ball doesn't start until nine o'clock." "So we're less than three hours away! God, what am I supposed to do?" I didn't stress the time, and now she's starting to panic. "Debbie..." Just as I was about to speak, the door was suddenly pushed open, and a burst of strong fragrance came over my face.

"Which one of you has any glitter to lend me?" A charming bunny girl said standing at the door. I looked at each other for a long time, and then sighed deeply from the bottom of my heart. Debbie started laughing wildly. "Alex, I admit defeat," she said primly after a laugh, "as much as I hate to admit it, you're way sexier than me today." Alex stroked the pink bunny ears on the top of his head, then gave her a wink. "Thank you for the compliment. Does any of you have glitter?" "I have." I sighed again, rummaging through the pile of makeup boxes in the drawer, "I guess," I glanced at him, "you want the pink one?"

"Do you have pink ones? Great," said Alex cheerfully. "I thought you only had black ones." "Just because I'm a goth doesn't mean I don't have other colors of makeup." I gave him a blank look and passed the box over, "What else do you need? Miss Rabbit?" "Hmm... big red lip gloss?" I looked him up and down, then shook my head resolutely. So Alex turned around and left without saying a word, this impolite guy. Next, I slowly do the dishes and tidy the kitchen, then I put on Debbie's eyeliner, touch up the make-up she's spoiled, pull her hair up, and borrow her a black tassel ribbon.

eight thirty.Debbie and Alex were clamoring for pictures of each other outside the door, and I shut myself in my room to dig through my closet for the black feathered dress I bought last weekend. The skirt is so light, when I take it out, it feels like it will float away at any moment. Debbie was right, I did look like a black swan in it.It's like a mask, a kind of role-playing game, that evokes some kind of memory of a past life where I was not human but Odile, the devil's daughter. The night gave me beauty, and I woke up at midnight, and again and again, in a million forms, and fell into the world.

In my dream there is a vague shadow. He is not Quinn, not Alex, and certainly not the little S who has broken up.I stepped on the footsteps of my dream to pursue his shadow, chase his black cloak flying in the night, hold his hand tightly and tell myself never to let go.Because I've already lost one chance, and this time, I can't let him go. "Odelle?" A voice called me, so close, so far away. "Odelle!" I turned my head, and Debbie and Alex had already put on their coats and were waiting impatiently at the door. "It will be ready soon." I glanced at the wall clock on the wall in a hurry, it was almost half past nine. How long have I been alone in the room?I shook my head, screwed on all the makeup caps, and pinned the black feather headpiece I made the other day to my hair before taking one last look in the mirror.I don't know if it was my illusion, but I saw the black swan in the mirror blinking at me.

"I like your eyeshadow!" Debbie yelled in a fuss as soon as she left the house, "Next time I want to paint like this!" Alex looked me up and down and gave me the thumbs up.I couldn't help but be proud of his approval because, you know, only gay people have ever understood real fashion. "Where's Quinn?" I asked. "I haven't seen him for a long time. I sent him a text message this afternoon, but he didn't reply." Debbie said with a gloomy expression. I know what she means, and if Quinn doesn't come, her grooming will be in vain again.

"But he is a DJ, how could he not come." I comforted her. "Quinn is today's DJ?" Debbie's face suddenly lit up, but only for a moment. I suddenly understood what she meant: If Quinn were the DJ today, although he would definitely be there, he would definitely not be available to play with us.I turned to look at Alex, hoping he could say something. But he's been focused on his phone since just now, seemingly typing text messages. "Quinn?" Debbie asked hopefully. Alex shook his head, then pursed his lips in my direction.Debbie turned her eyes to look at me, I don't know why.

"Who?" I asked. "Mr. Cooper." "Who?" Alex looked up. "Don't you know him very well?" Looking into those jealous eyes, I suddenly realized who he was talking about. "I don't know him at all," I said. "Who are you talking about?" Debbie pouted. "A friend of mine made an appointment to come to the dance today. Odile also knows him." Alex said. "He said he was a devil," I added. "Devil? It really fits the occasion." Debbie snorted, and walked out of the subway first. "He said he wasn't coming?" I wasn't surprised at all. "He's not only coming, he's bringing a friend." Alex gave me a sideways look. "He just texted me that they are on their way and will be there in a while." On the eve of Halloween, there are people in costumes all the way.We managed to avoid the group of mischievous children and two zombies blocking the road, and arrived at the school at exactly ten o'clock. The dance has only just begun.
